This large pair of rooms on the first floor was once the family gathering room, a Victorian bathing room, a family breakfast room and a pool room. Today, its 11-foot ceilings and arched-top Victorian flash glass windows are the architectural elements in a wonderfully relaxing room with a bit of traditional flair. The colors are soft yellows with dabs of green and rose. Waking up in this room is very special because of the play of sunlight through the red and blue windows.

Included are cable TV with premium movie channels and music, CD player with ipod/mp3 dock, candles, incredible chenille robes, snacks and bubble bath.

The king-size bed is firm, comfortable and within sight of the gas log fireplace in the bedroom. Two wing chairs are perfect for quiet reading. Relax in the generous-size whirlpool tub (yes, it fits two!) with a view of a second gas log fireplace. Both rooms have original hearths, mantles. and the bathroom has the original knee-high wainscoting. All rooms have central heat, ceiling fans and summer air conditioning.

This room has 11-foot ceilings and arched-top red Victorian glass windows, a wonderfully relaxing king bed, whirlpool tub for two, fireplace in the bedroom and another facing the tub, private door to the front porch. First floor location.

Our most unusual room— it's a double decker with private stairs (stenciled with roses) leading to a luxury bath with whirlpool tub and large shower with a custom mural inside. Snuggle by the in-room fireplace and enjoy the three-state views.

Queen bed, great privacy, snuggly chenille robes, candles to surround the whirlpool, new HD TV with DVD player and bright Victorian stained glass. Private staircase connects the bedroom and the affordably luxurious bath. There is a second sink in the corner of the bedroom. (Not suitable for people who have difficulty with stairs.)

Spacious, restful room with loveseat, fireplace, shower

This room is romantic but not too "girlie." It has a loveseat suitable for reading or snuggling near the fireplace and is painted a fresh spring green with a wallpaper border featuring herbs. The queen-size canopy style bed fits easily in this large room with its own realistic electric fireplace (hypoallergenic) and heart-pine original mantle.   In The Garden Room is so large a twin bed may be added for a third person OR a second person/second bed.

The cozy private bath is wallpapered in a garden theme below the chair rail and new raspberry wallpaper. The large shower stall was custom designed with a special treat for the ladies (a spot for your foot when youhare shaving your legs!) and a massaging type showerhead. The vanity is a custom design by the owners. This room may be outfitted with a desk/table for business travelers and is often their first choice. Our wireless connection is free for all guests.

Please request the twin bed in advance. Children 12 and under stay free. Additional fee for third adult in the room. No charge for two beds/two adults in the room.

Our standard in-room amenities: cable TV, ceiling fan, snack basket and dish of candies, phone line, free wireless internet, bubble bath (rooms with tubs), candles, wine glasses, individual heat/air controls. Other items may be included. Located at the top of the front (grand) staircase. Pricing reflects the smaller bath with large shower (no tub). It is Innkeeper Judy's favorite room!

This is the inn's least expensive room yet it is larger than almost all this inn's rooms AND most certainly larger than most B&B rooms in the North Carolina High Country (Boone, Blowing Rock, NC)or Abingdon, VA).  Special insulation insures every room offers superior privacy and confort.

Sunny, private, whirlpool tub for two, rain shower, fireplace, lighter touch decor

The fresh, new decorating reflects a young, modern approach. The room has a queen-size bed, an antique bureau, Oriental rug, and a fresh  fern green color. The mattress is one of the most comfortable. New linens provide a silky, elegant, romantic feel.

Justin's Hideaway (Room #4) has the inn’s largest gas log fireplace and a whirlpool tub for two, surrounded by custom tile work.  Above the tub is a rain shower for a gentle, soothing experience or a blast like a waterfall.

This is one of our "romance rooms" which feature whirlpool tubs for two. Each one is the same size--the decking and layout of each bath is different. Our rooms are larger than any in historic building in the North Carolina High Country (Boone, Blowing Rock)or Abingdon, VA,and they offer superior privacy.

Once the master bedroom, enjoy this large east-facing room which includes an antique-style queen-sized bed and a cheerful green and pink color scheme, includes Dorothy's "pouting porch"—a small, private balcony with a three-state view—opens off the room (perfect if you happen to smoke...

This room is even more perfect if you enjoy a room with a private balcony with a wonderful view and fresh air. Room 5 features a gas log stove, ceiling fan, antique bureau and larger closet,TV with VCR, clock/radio. The room has original heart-pine and quarter-sawn oak floors.

Freestanding House Rental on 30 acres (not at inn in town)

There are many ways to enjoy the rural beauty of Johnson County and the quaint town of Mountain City, Tennessee, along with Damascus, VA, and Boone, NC.

A Cottage in the Woods is a freestanding, rental house which will sleep up to 7 persons. Bring your kids, dog, and friends. This is your home away from home.

This casually-decorated, three bedroom, two bath house features a fully equipped kitchen, spacious living-dining combo, deck, picnic table under the trees, a one car garage and a very wooded, private location just eight miles north of Mountain City and nine miles to Trail Days in May in Damascus, VA.

This is the place to get away NOT the place to stay connected. It's not for everyone, just the few who appreciate the woods, the snows, the distance from maddening crowds, the time to turn off clocks and deadlines Cottage in the Woods is pet friendly.and the need to replace urgency with reconnection. Here is a place to share time with loved ones and a closeness to Nature. We also added DISH TV in 2011 as well as the DVD and VCR. Enjoy.

If you need wifi and cable television, please book a room at the inn where both are provided free of charge. .. iphones work perfectly at the cottage. Cabin renters may visit the inn to use the free wifi network. Wifi is also available at the Mountain City McDonald's and Hardees due to proximity to the local computer store which has a wifi network. (Hwy. 421/South Shady Street).

The cottage is available for rent on a daily basis, (2-day minimum) and may be rented for longer periods (discounts then apply). The cottage is 1300 sq .ft., fully furnished from linens to pots and pans, TV, VCR and gas-fired stove, as well as central heat. Some bedrooms have air conditioning, although given the mountain weather, it is rarely needed.
