    Mountains To Prairies was honored to receive the 2012 Community Pride Award at the Hill City Area Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet held mid-October at Crazy Horse Memorial's Laughing Water Restaurant.

    In addition to Crazy Horse Memorial, many of South Dakota's great attractions are conveniently nearby. A partial listing would include Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Monument, mountain lakes and truly spectacular scenic drives, such as Needles Highway. For the not so faint at heart, there are awe-inspiring climbing and trekking opportunities tucked within these beautiful surroundings, which beckon via massive granite vistas and wilderness hiking trails.

    The very popular 109-mile long Mickelson Trail doubles as sidewalk through Hill City, passing the 1880 Train and Mountains To Prairies along the way. Deer sightings, bird watching and picking wild berries may be enjoyed many summer days while out walking in fresh air naturally scented with pine. In-town bicycle rentals make biking the trail an easy alternative. Since hunger is sure to find you while you are out having fun in the Hills, take your early evening appetite to Circle B Chuckwagon (supper, cowboy music show and trail rides), just a few miles away on Deerfield Road.
