  • Room Information

Three distinctive suites are available to make guests of Mountains To Prairies B&B feel welcome.  All three suites have antique and unique furnishings, satellite hd tv/dvd/vcr, wireless internet, cove heat and AC, plus ceiling fans.

Our small gourmet Coffee Shop serves hot and cold specialty espresso drinks, as well as fine organic teas. Our Antiques Shop offers many hard-to-find items, with attention given to quality. The novelties and souvenirs of days-gone-by may be seen in a new light as unique present-day gifts and mementoes, treasures to take home to special friends and family, or maybe just for you.

We are within easy walking distance of everything Hill City has to offer, just 1-1/2 blocks to historic downtown, presenting delicious dining, fine art and delightful shops. Equally close are the popular George S. Mickelson Trail (rails to trails designated for hiking, running, biking) and the 1880 Train, which travels along the path of fascinating local history, through rugged and beautiful scenery.

    Bluma Madle
The Log-Accented Suite, BLUMA MADLE (shown in two photos above), is reached via a hand-crafted log stairway. On entering through the door of the Master Room (to the right at top of stairs) guests are greeted by many pleasant and friendly amenities - an airjet bathtub in the private full bath, beautiful furnishings including an antique tiger-oak queen pillowtop bed, all vaulted ceilings, satellite hd tv/dvd/vcr, wireless internet, microwave over a small fridge, cove heat and AC. In addition to comfortable seating in the Master Room, this suite has a front sitting area (to the left at top of stairs), with a log loft Bear Den padded with plush brown carpet and equipped for sleepy kids to enjoy indoor camping. Provided are fleece sleeping bags, comforters and pillows. Older children (or adventurous adults) may request an air mattress. This space is cooled by a nature-themed ceiling fan. The peaked windows in the exterior house photo are viewing windows in the sitting area, near the Bear Den. Next, Prairie Homestead . . .

    Prairie Homestead
The ground level Knotty Pine Cabin-Style Suite, PRAIRIE HOMESTEAD (shown in two photos above and one photo to the right), features amenities which include a shower (4') with two jets for the lower back in the private bath, queen pillow- top bed, microwave and undercounter fridge in the kitchenette, wireless high speed internet, hd tv/dvd/vcr, cove heat and AC, plus a ceiling fan, comfortable loveseat, personal entrance/exit out the rear of the house onto a private deck, service entry within the house, a Nook with a twin bed plus a loft for a small child above the twin bed. Prairie Homestead bears some resemblance to Chessie Lee's Peas in that it is nearly all wrapped with knotty pine, but many aspects are reminiscent of homestead life on the prairie. One may find the rising sun, the moon and the big dipper in this popular room. The large round copper sink embossed with vining wild flowers rests atop a hand-crafted vanity! Prairie Homestead's kitchenette is equipped for light cooking.

    Chessie Lees Peas
The ground level Knotty Pine Cabin-Style Suite, CHESSIE LEE'S PEAS, has a private full bath, a second vanity outside the bath, warming bay view pellet stove, a queen pillowtop master bed made of local ponderosa pine (rough-sawn vertical beams and a knotty headboard). Other amenities include wireless internet, satellite hd tv/dvd/vcr, kitchenette with microwave and undercounter fridge, cove heat and AC, plus a ceiling fan, a loveseat, personal entrance, and a cozy Nook with a southern cypress twin bed, handy for at least one little sleepyhead, or an adult (same party with primary). On entering this suite from the outside, the Nook is on the right, chairs and a table are on the left and the main room is straight ahead (shown in photo). Overhead, the ceiling fan is suspended from a vault in the ceiling which leads up to the Tree House Loft. The stairway to the Loft is visible at the rear right of the above photo. The Loft is an optional space which can sleep two people on a full-size pillowtop bed, and includes a half bath. This allows Chessie Lees Peas to accommodate up to five guests of one party. (Camp-style arrangements could be made for a sixth person, if needed.)
