The historic Mansion is located amongst the scenic Black Hills in Custer, South Dakota, famous for its breathtaking monuments, beautiful National Parks, and numerous tourist attractions. During the winter months, guests can enjoy snowmobiling, ice fishing, and skating at one of the many nearby lakes.For those guests which prefer to hang-out and relax, the mansion offers a parlor for reading or watching T.V., with a VCR and a full video library plus Wireless Internet access throughout. We've had visitors from all across the globe from Japan to England to Custer locals.
The exterior of Custer Mansion represents excellence in craftsmanship and architecture. It signifies what a person can achieve if they dare to dream and strive for a better life. Mr. Tubbs knew what he wanted and he created this mansion for generations to enjoy.
The entry is warm and inviting, the staircase leads to the guest's rooms. When you walk in the front door, the sitting pallor would be on your right hand side and the living room is straight ahead.
The living room is an excellent place to sit and relax after a long day of sight seeing adventurers. Or maybe you'd enjoy visiting with your host and other fascinating guests. The dining room is an excellent place to start your daily adventures with a hearty meal.
The Butler's Pantry
Freshly brewed coffee, tea, and an assortment of fruit juices are conveniently located near the dining room in the adjacent butler's pantry.
You can count on a hearty home-cooked breakfast during your visit at Custer Mansion. In the spacious dining room, you'll be served a variety of cooked fruits, such as broiled grapefruit, poached pears, and candied oranges, complemented by favorites such as John Wayne Casserole, Overnight French Toast, and piping hot cinnamon rolls. Freshly brewed coffee, tea, and an assortment of fruit juices are conveniently located in the adjacent butlers pantry.
Custer Mansion Bed & Breakfast offer five lovely guest rooms, all with private baths. Each room is named after a song and decorated accordingly.

What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn? We are best known for being a historic Mansion, and Bob is an excellent cook.
If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit? The number one reason people visit is to see Mount Rushmore National Monument.
What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn? We have a guest that has stayed with us many times that painted a watercolor of the house as a gift to us.
What’s the best kept secret about the area? There is so much to do here.
If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area? Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Black Hills of South Dakota, visit Mount Rushmore National Monument, hiking, fishing, boating, rock climbing, snowshoeing, Crazy Horse Monument (6 miles away), motorcycle riding, visit museums. Museums throughout the region highlight some of the archaeological research.
Is there anything within walking distance of your inn? We are located on the edge of town so you can walk to restaurants, parks, and wineries in the area.
What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area? Buglin' Bull is a restored restaurant in Custer.
Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference? How many rooms does your inn have? We have 5 rooms.
Do you accept pets? We don't accept pets, but will be happy to refer our guests to a couple of kennels nearby.
