Got the time? Winnsboro certainly does. Home of the Town Clock, for over 100 years Winnsboro has been the proud owner of the longest continually operational clock in the USA! The story is that 50 wagons were utilized to get the mechanics of this clock from Charleston to Winnsboro. Directly across the street you will see the Greek Revival style Fairfield County Courthouse. Other things to see here include the Fairfield County Museum, formerly the Winnsboro Female Institute. This c. 1830’s building has vacillated between being a residential and commercial property. Finally in 1976, the dwelling was converted into the property that it is today. The SC Railroad Museum offers train rides on a real steam locomotive. They have a vast collection of train cars that have been collected from far and wide. For the rugged and hearty, there is Carolina Adventure World. This is a 2600 acre outdoor park that offers over 100 miles of motocross, and ATV trails. They also offer equipment rentals. There is a zipline for a fast and fun view of the park. Historic as well as modern day lodging options are readily available, as well as locally owned eateries and some of your favorite fast-food establishments.
