The Bed and Breakfast occupies one side of our 1910 double home and we live on the other side. Because of the design of our home, we are uniquely suited, not only for travelers, but for special events. A private parlor, dining room and kitchen allow parents visiting college students, those attending weddings, reunions or other events, to enjoy a comfortable and private place to visit in a home-like atmosphere. Special rates are available for booking the whole house or extended stays.
The Sign of the Rose is within walking distance from center-city, Wilkes University, Kings College and only a short driving distance from the Luzerne County Community College, the local Penn State Campus, College Misericordia, the Wachovia Arena, Mohegan Sun Casino at Pocono Downs and great shopping. Visit the beautifully restored Victorian Frederick Stegmaier mansion, the magnificent Luzerne County Courthouse and other historic sites or take an authentic coal mine tour. We are within easy driving distance of Scranton and Pocono Mountain attractions.
From the moment you step over the threshold, you start to experience the ambiance of this vintage cottage home which has recently been renovated for your comfort. Expect to have a wonderful night's sleep in one of our five guestrooms, each with its own unique style.
Full gourmet breakfasts are served in our beautiful dining room. Sample our Bed of Roses Eggs, Baked Blueberry French Toast, Rosey Granola Parfaits, or Luscious Cinnamon Rolls. Relax, read, or watch TV in our cozy parlor. We have a library of books, VCRs and DVDs for your pleasure. Access to the refrigerator and microwave make it possible for you to have a light meal or snack during your stay.
