  • Introduction

Often referred to as " of the most beautiful farm in Chester County", Whitewing Farm is hidden on a country road, quietly nestled in the historic Brandywine Valley adjacent to the world-renowned Longwood Gardens and just minutes away from Winterthur and Brandywine River Museum.

Our 1700s farmhouse, featured in the prestigious Chester County Home Tour, provides breathtaking panoramic views, a fully stocked pond, immaculately kept grounds with exquisite rare trees and perennials, Har-tru tennis court and putting green.

Generously sized guest rooms and suites are separate from the farmhouse. Suites include fireplaces and all have private bathrooms with marble floors, cozy towels, terry-cloth robes, hand made pillows and bedding ensembles all done in a rich, Hunt Country elegance. It's easy to see why Glamour magazine named Whitewing Farm one of six top romantic places.

    "Wonderful quiet B&B!"
I find this place online, It had just reopened under new owners. It has several rooms in various separate building around the property. Our room was the smallest but very pretty decor with a library of books available for borrowing. There is more privacy than most B&B. A large barn has been converted into the main breakfast and great room. Guests are free to come and go around the property. The location was great. Right behind Longwood Gardens. We visited, Nemours, Brandywine River museum, Longwood Gardens and the Hagley Museum. They all were within 20 minutes of the place. We had delicious gourmet breakfasts made by the owners. Sandy and Lance Shortt could not have been more welcoming. We plan to go back again.

    "Wonderful Stay!"
We recently stayed here for a wonderful 3 day Mother/Daughter trip. The room by the pond was cozy and peaceful. Every night we were lulled to sleep by the water and loved sitting on the deck during the day to watch the ducks or read a good book in the sun. It is a gorgeous setting. The owners, Sandy and Lance, made us feel very welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. The breakfasts were cooked by Lance, a long time chef, and were absolutely amazing. There is so much to do in the area, we never ran out of things to do. Longwood Gardens, Winterthur, and Brandywine Museum are all close by. There is also places to hike, bike and canoe close by for outdoor enthusiasts!
