The Jackson House Bed and Breakfast is an historic 1859 Inn with six beautifully-appointed guest rooms, situated in beautiful southern York County right on the Heritage/NCR Rail Trail. We serve a full, hearty breakfast to our guests in our stone-walled dining room each morning. The inn features a wine cellar, parlor, big 8-person hot tub, gardens, ponds, waterfall, porches, and patios. There are loads of fun things to do in the area including riding bikes on the rail trail, the Steam Into History Train-ride, visiting wineries and antique shops, and touring Amish Country Hershey or Gettysburg.
During your stay, relax in the garden by the waterfall, stroll through the terraced gardens, or enjoy rocking on the front porch watching the travelers on the rail trail. The Great Room offers another area to meet other guests, converse with friends, read a book, or ponder at the antique furnishings, including a register from 1911 for the Jackson House Hotel. The original restored woods floors, stone walls, and 24" window sills create the atmosphere of stepping back in time and enjoying the quality of life in the past. The Jackson House Hotel in the beautiful Pennsylvania country side was built in 1859 during the era when Railroad, Pennsylvania was quite a thriving, industrial town. During the early 1900's, the Jackson House Hotel was known as one of the finest along the Northern Central Railroad. The steam heat and hot and cold running water were rare luxuries that most establishments could not afford during that time. The stone cistern that stored the hotel's water supply still remains intact today. The Jackson House is listed in the National Historic Registry.
Southern York County has many sites to visit and tour, including lots of wineries and festivals, Harley Davidson York, antique shops, and the new Steam Into History Train. Other attractions in the area include Markets of Shrewsbury, Farmer's Markets and Nurseries, Heritage Rail Trail and the beautiful countryside. We are only a short drive to Gettysburg, Hershey Park, Lancaster, Harrisburg, Baltimore's Inner Harbor, and only 2 miles off I83.
