Pretty Meadow Farm was established in 1763. In the midst of hostile Native American territory, the land was not used for nearly ten years, until a log house was built and farm land was cultivated. The main house on the property was built in 1809. Throughout the last 200 years, the property has remained largely unchanged. Current owners, Marti and Bill Roberts, devoted preservationists, purchased the farm in 2006 and since then have indulged in bits of modern convenience and luxury here and there. Many aspects of the stone dwelling are original, such as deep window sills, exposed beam ceilings, low doorways, flooring and two massive, back-to-back stone fireplaces. The original log house also remains and has been restored as a special events facility.

Another priority was to reestablish the farming operation. As devotees of the principles of sustainable agriculture the Roberts' commitment to farming helps to ensure that this historic property can be productive, contribute to the local economy and demonstrate good stewardship to the land and livestock that grace the gently rolling hills at Pretty Meadow Farm.

In addition to her love for preservation, Marti is a foodie with a penchant for simple, wholesome, gourmet. Whether cooking fresh treats in the afternoon or a full local fare breakfast, Marti is at home in the kitchen and loves to spoil guests with her culinary creations. One of the most important aspects about Pretty Meadow Farm is our approach. We are not fussy or intrusive. We find this farm calming, centering and nurturing and want to open that experience to our guests. We will accommodate guests in every way possible, but will not poke, prod or hover. We find the grace of fine furnishings, elegant accommodations and clean, simple space is nourishing and healing.

Pretty Meadow Farm is 122 acres of rolling hills, forest and working farm land. We boast an historically appropriate organic garden, nearly three miles of walking trails and a sitting porch on which guests can rock away all worries. We've chosen to keep the décor simple, refined and unobtrusive. We find the clean space allows energy to flow and the mind to relax. With minimal electronics and technology to distract you, Pretty Meadow Farm is an oasis in our modern life of constant communication bombardment. You may actually hear yourself think!

Guests choose from four private queen suites. Some of our indulgences include:
    • Our bedding consists of 350 count combed cotton linens with double down surround pillows, high speed internet, well-appointed rooms each with their own seating area, contemporary conveniences in a Colonial inspired setting
    • Private spa-inspired baths featuring amenities from Kiehl's - America's oldest apothecary, heated tile floors, rainfall showerheads, natural stone topped vanities, and luxurious 100% pure, long-staple Turkish cotton towels
    • Exposed beams, two original massive stone fireplaces, deep sill windows, original wood-fired kitchen stove, and individually climate-controlled rooms
    • Premium coffees and teas and epicurean delights, all catered to your dietary needs and requests.
