Australian Walkabout Inn Bed & Breakfast

The Australian Walkabout Inn Bed and Breakfast is a peaceful, romantic getaway located in the heart of Amish Country in Lancaster County. Whether it is a special anniversary weekend, a vacation or a trip to the local outlets, you will experience a unique blend of Pennsylvania Dutch hospitality and luxurious accommodations at The Walkabout.

The main house was built in 1925 by a local cabinet maker. The original owners were descendants of the original settling family of Lancaster County, the Herrs. The historic Hans Herr house is just minutes away. All of the interior woodwork is American chestnut and both the parlor and dining room have beautiful eight foot tall pocket doors hand-crafted of this rare American hardwood.

Hardwood floors, oriental rugs and antique furnishings invite you to experience a blessing of history. Jacuzzi soaking baths, hot tubs, luxury linens and massage therapists beckon you to take pleasure in the pampering of modern amenities. All suites have a private bath with shower, cable TV with DVD players, air conditioning and refrigerators. A collection of books and movies is available for your enjoyment and relaxation.

At The Walkabout every guest is a special part of the family. Complementary beverages upon arrival and the sweet aroma of the kitchen invite you to experience Elegant Charm in the Heart of Amish Country. A full gourmet breakfast is served each morning in our dining room and features the fresh produce, meats and dairy products from local growers and farmers.

One of the available amenities here at the Walkabout Inn that our guests comment most about is our Massage Therapy. Our wonderful therapists - Steve, Rozella, Tara, Christine and Jessi come to us from the Lancaster School of Massage and Queen Street Holistic Health, and are trained, certified and licensed in several different types of massage therapy. Whether you have a massage monthly, or this will be your first one, our therapists will treat you with TLC and take time to make sure your experience is relaxing, rejuvinating and memorable. Soft music, warm lighting and the aroma of essential oils complete the sensory atmosphere.

Massages can be 30 or 60 minutes and are done in our private 3rd floor Massage Suite. We offer them as part of a package, or a la carte. Fees are $75 per person for a 60-minute massage or $40 for a 30-minute (Gratuity additional). If you wish to schedule a massage, please notify us at least 7 days prior to your arrival.
