    Our gourmet breakfasts feature a delectable assortment of unique fresh fruit creations including melon and mango fruit salads with our own fresh made gelato, grilled rum buttered peaches, granola yogurt parfaits and broiled port marinated oranges.

    The entrees served at our superb Amish Country bed and breakfast are just as special, offering you Hawaiian Coconut Waffles with Lancaster County Bacon or Sausage, heavenly Sweet Potato Pecan Pancakes, Mandarin Orange French Toast, Apple Date Nut or Sausage Florentine Crepes, and a number of other mouth-watering and elegant dishes, fit for a King.     The King's Cottage Bed & Breakfast Inn is located in a residential neighborhood of Lancaster, Pennsylvania - and just two miles from Amish Country. Lancaster City offers a buzzing art scene, great museums, and fabulous restaurants all within 1.5 miles of the Inn.

    Day 1. Explore the Back Roads of Lancaster County:

    See the real beauty of this county. Discover rolling farmland, Amish roadside stands, fresh homemade ice-cream at a Dairy farm, furniture, & quilt shops along the way. All kinds of tours (self-guided, guided, buggy ride, etc.) are available. No need to book in advance!

    Day 2. Spend a Day in the Village of Intercourse:

    Visit the many craft & quilt shops. Learn how to twist a pretzel. Sample your way through the tasting stations at Kitchen Kettle's Jam & Relish Kitchen & the Intercourse Canning Company. Don't forget to try an authentic Pennsylvania Dutch soft pretzel & homemade lemonade!

    Day 3. Tour Historic Lancaster City:

    Discover the historic downtown district with its markets, galleries, shops, churches, museums, restaurants, & mysteries!

    Day 4. Visit the Covered Bridges of Lancaster County:

    Day 5. Market Days in Lancaster:

    The outlet malls start just 3 miles away. When you return, afternoon refreshments will be waiting for you between 4 & 6 pm. Foot massage anyone?

    Take some time to unwind. Sit and read a good book in our inviting sunroom, schedule a massage here at the inn with Ann, our resident nationally certified massage therapist, or enjoy the 47-jet therapeutic hot tub located off the sunroom (swimsuit required). Dine in one of our small intimate gourmet restaurants and attend live theater in the evening.

    Day 9. Chocoholics Rejoice!

    Start at Miesse's Gourmet Handmade Chocolate factory just minutes from King's Cottage in Lancaster City. Wilbur's Chocolate factory is in Lititz, on your way to Hershey's Chocolate World-only 45 minutes away. Then wheel back through York from Hershey to visit Wolfgang Chocolate factory. You can do all in one day!

    Day 10. Antiques Everywhere!

    Everyday is antique shopping day throughout the County, but Sunday is the biggest day when Adamstown comes alive with more antique dealers and flea markets than you can imagine.

    Day 11. Museums for Everyone:

    You will be surprised by diversity of museums in this county! There are so many you will need more than a day to take them all in! So choose what interests you.

    Day 12. All Aboard!

    Strasburg Railroad has lots going on with wine & cheese trains, dinner trains, and more.

    Day 13. Vineyards & Wine Tasting:

    Lancaster County is home to a number of vineyards. You can sample wines from various vineyards in one stop at the Red Rose Wine Tasting Room in downtown Lancaster. Or, you can make a day of it and visit the actual vineyards.

    King's Cottage exteriorKing's Cottage is located in a residential neighborhood, just 1.5 miles east of historic downtown Lancaster and the Lancaster County Convention Center at Penn Square. The public bus service, Red Rose Transit, has a bus stop directly in front of King's Cottage. A five minute bus ride gets you to the center of downtown Lancaster. Lancaster Amtrak train station is 2.7 miles from the inn.

    NOTE: The following are basic, general directions from various locations. If you are traveling without GPS we strongly recommend bringing a road atlas with you, even if you are using MapQuest. Or obtain detailed directions from a travel service like AAA. For those using GPS navigation systems, to arrive at our parking lot entrance, use the destination address of 28 Cottage Ave., Lancaster PA. 17602.

    Once in Lancaster, our Walnut Street exit directions from Hwy 30 (listed below) will bring you to our door the easiest way. The following directions are guidelines and the best routes as we know them.

    Driving Directions

    From New York, NY - (4 hrs, 160 mi.)

    1. New Jersey Turnpike to I-276 West (PA Turnpike)
    2. I-276 becomes I-76. I-76 West to Exit 286 for US-222 South
    3. US-222 South to US-30 East
    4. Take the left fork onto US-30 EAST (it will NOT say to Lancaster)
    5. US-30 East to Walnut Street exit
    6. Turn right at the end of exit ramp and go approx. 1 mile and turn left at the 2nd Stoplight onto Ranck Avenue. (Look for a 25 MPH Speed Limit sign, which is right before the 2nd Stoplight.)
    7. At the second stop sign, turn left onto Orange Street
    8. Take Orange Street one block to Cottage Avenue and turn right
    9. The King's Cottage is the last building on the right at the 2nd stop sign
    10. Turn right into the lane just before our white wall and left into our parking area

    From Baltimore, MD - (1 3/4 hrs, 70 mi.)

    1. From the Baltimore Beltway take I-83 North to York, PA
    2. Follow I-83 to Exit 21 for US-30 East
    3. Take US-30 East to Walnut Street exit

    2. Take I-95 South for four miles and exit onto Route 476 North (Exit 7 at Plymouth Meeting)
    3. Take Route 476 North for five miles to Route 1 South (Exit 5, Lima)
    4. Take Route 1 South for 25 miles to Route 41 North (Avondale Exit)
    5. Follow Route 41 North for 17 miles to US-30 West
    6. Turn left at light onto US-30 West
    7. Follow US-30 West for twelve miles to Route 462 West and watch for a large Weis Market (grocery store) on right
    8. The King's Cottage is one half mile past Weis on the right
    9. Turn right onto Cottage Avenue and the first left is the lane to our parking lot
