The Harry Packer Mansion

The Harry Packer Mansion Inn is located in the little Victorian village of Jim Thorpe, PA. Jim Thorpe is a scenic paradise nestled between three mountains in northeastern Pennsylvania. The town is an oasis of perfectly preserved history; the architecture is purely Victorian. Perched atop Packer Hill, just steps from historic downtown, the Harry Packer Mansion sits like a sentinel overlooking the town. The mansion's impressive facade could have been taken from a Gothic novel, so much so that the building's design caught the eye of Disney Imagineers and it became the model for Walt Disney World's "Haunted Mansion!" The interior however is anything but spooky. Fifteen foot ceilings, marble fireplaces and gilded mirrors reflect the elegance of the Victorian Age. The guest accommodations in the mansion and the adjoining Carriage House are furnished with period antiques, luxurious fabrics, and carefully selected artwork. In addition to offering overnight accommodations the Mansion also hosts Murder Mystery Weekends, First Friday Wine Tastings, Private Functions and Self-Guided Tours. The newest addition to the mansion is Libations Lounge, where you can sit back and relax with your favorite beverage in a setting unlike any other.

We have a liquor license so no outside alcohol may be consumed in common areas. Coolers are not allowed in the buildings.

First Friday Wine Tastings

We are now offering Wine Tastings on the First Friday of every month. You will enjoy four carefully selected wines as our wine expert guides you through the tasting process. Light fare will be served along with some lively conversation. This is a casual event focused on fun and enjoyment as well as gaining some basic wine knowledge.

Private Functions

Allow us to host your private function!  We welcome birthday parties, baby/bridal showers, family reunions, corporate meetings and personalized wine tastings.

Take a tour of the mansion at your own pace. You will read about each room in the house as you walk through this magnificent structure. The first floor is always open and the second floor is open when the rooms are not occupied by guests. Tours are $5.00 per person.

Murder Mystery Weekends

The Murder Mystery at the Harry Packer Mansion is based on factual events with a creative twist. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to rub elbows with the elite? Now's your chance...

The characters in our scenario of murder and mayhem are Packers or intimate friends of the family. The plot revolves around the Packer fortune - literally millions amassed on the Lehigh Valley Railroad - and its hopeful heirs.

We offer the mystery each weekend for up to 11 couples. Midweek we offer Mysteries for larger groups: individual characters will be assigned to volunteers while others work in teams to solve the mystery. The nature of our mystery is such that we can work with groups large and small, and everyone can participate. Test your mettle and match wits in an exclusive mystery of the Victorian era, an age when the sleuth was king!

Price is per couple and each room has 1 queen size bed and a private bath. Price includes lodging on Friday and Saturday nights, breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings, a formal dinner Saturday night and of course participation in a dastardly deed!
Weekday Team Building Murder Mysteries are $100 per person plus room cost if applicable.

A $100.00 non refundable deposit is required to make a reservation and we have a 30 day cancellation policy.
If you cancel within 30 days of your reservation the total cost of the room will be non-refundable.
Guests must be over 18 to participate in the murder mystery weekend.

Libations Lounge
Libation: n. a ritual pouring of a drink as an offering to a god.
Libations Lounge was opened in December 2009 by Taylor Handwerk and Kristen Matweecha. The idea behind the lounge was to offer a fine selection of beer, wine, and spirits in a setting unlike any other. The lounge has allowed visitors who may not be staying at the Bed & Breakfast a chance to see how the weathiest families lived during the Victorian era. So please sit back, relax and watch the world go by.
