Built about 1818, the original farm consisted of a stone house and stone bank barn. Author, Pearl S. Buck bought the farm in 1942 and in 1948 added a wing to the original barn and built a machine shed and a ten stall barn. Ms. Buck raised prize-winning Guernsey cows. The farm is considered a historic farmstead and is being considered for eligibility on the National Register.
The Walkers bought the farm in 1984 and have used the ten-acre farm for their horses. In 1997, they began the conversion of the barn and addition into a bed and breakfast. They opened in September of 1999. The original part of the barn has all the old hand hewn barn beams, plank floors, and stone walls. Guests can enjoy a large-screen TV while relaxing in a rustic sitting room in the original barn filled with antiques and wood-burning stove. They can have breakfast in the dining area at one of the eight tables that sit two to four people.
