23rd Annual Volksfest 2015 at Mount Hope Estate 30 Mar 2015, 7:00 am

Who knew? In May 1937, the government of Germany (then under the control of Adolf Hitler) formed a new state owned auto company.  Known as Gesellschaft zur Vorbereitung des Deutschen Volkswagens mbH,  It was renamed  a more manageable Volkswagenwerk, or “The People’s Car Company.”

And who knew that the Volkswagen would not only survive but become one of the most popular cars worldwide. Known as a rite of passage for the young, it also remains popular with those waxing nostalgic for that rite…

Volksfest brings together collectors, vendors and those with an appreciation for all things VW. Enjoy static displays, view the best of air and water cooled Volkswagens..awards will be presented for the best in those categories, as well as for best of show overall and worst of show overall.

Food will be available from the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire Kitchens along with fresh Swashbuckler Ales.

Date: Saturday, April 25, 2015

Time: 8:00 AM for Spectators

Indian Echo Caverns in Hummelstown, PA 19 Mar 2015, 7:00 am

We’re right on the cusp of gorgeous warmer weather, but we don’t have to wait to experience some outdoor activities. As a matter of fact, this attraction is open year round with the exception of major holidays, and offers so much to see and do..

Among many names previously given to these caves, Wilson Cave is one of the most memorable. Known for William Wilson who for nineteen years lived as a hermit (known as the Pennsylvania Hermit) there.

As with many of the caves in the Mid-Atlantic states, water flowing through limestone worked its artistry and formed these beautiful caverns. Nature’s thermostat sees to it that the caverns remain at a constant 52 degrees.

You can visit their website for more fun activities and find out more about the guided tours.

Open: Seven days a week, closed for major holidays

Hours: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM – Year Round, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM – Memorial Day – Labor Day

Admission: $16 for Adults, ages 12 and over, $14 for Seniors, ages 62 and over, $10 for Children, ages 2-11 and Carried Infants are FREE.

The only difficulty we see is choosing which restaurant and which menu to sample..
