Pop Open: Icons of Pop Art, Susquehanna Art Museum 19 Feb 2015, 7:00 am

This incredible exhibit of 50 works from THE names in the Pop Art Movement of the ’60s and ’70s comes to SAM (Susquehanna Art Museum) from Niagara University’s Castellani Art Museum, and is the first time this body of work has traveled. It includes work from every important artist of the movement.

Pop Art grew out of a reaction to Abstract Expressionism, using American advertising, comic book characters and everyday items for inspiration. It was the thing to own at least one piece of framed Pop Art in the ’60s…and the appeal of this specific genre continues to garner interest to this day.

Some of the artists on display are Hockney, Warhol, Peter Max, Claes Oldenburg and Robert Rauschenberg.

Located at 1401 North 3rd Street Harrisburg, PA 17102, Telephone 717.233.8668

Hours: Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 AM-5:00 PM, Sunday 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
