Wishing You A Happy Thanksgiving From The 1825 Inn 24 Nov 2014, 7:00 am

THE 1825 INN

It would seem the perfect time of year to take a brief time out to thank all our guests and friends for a wonderful year..

We have met those from near and some from very far, who have made us smile and laugh and even shed a tear or two.. we have been touched in so many different ways and been genuinely grateful to have crossed paths..

For all those moments, we are thankful and would like to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.  And, as many do these days, if you are traveling to loved ones…we wish you a safe journey.

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.

Pennsylvania Farm Show, Harrisburg, PA 17 Nov 2014, 7:00 am

A Pennsylvania tradition for nearly one hundred years..99 years in 2015, to be exact. Our State is proud to host the largest indoor agricultural exposition in the nation…over 13,000 competitive exhibits, close to 6,000 animals and an impressive number of commercial exhibits..300 expected..

Housed in 24 acres under roof and spread over 11 buildings, the show rounds up the best of farming innovation, new equipment, education, fun activities and competitions, and all sorts of tasty treats for visitors…and the visitors do come each year.. hundreds of thousands.

No visit would be complete without seeing the annual 1,000 pound butter sculpture, experiencing the now famous sheep to shawl competition or sampling some of the local fare.

There is so much to see and do, it would be difficult to fit it all into one day. And so the show runs a full week, the 2015 show runs from Saturday, January 10, 2015 – Saturday, January 17, 2015. There are those who wonder why an event this huge would be held during a time of year when adverse weather conditions could be a factor..and they usually are! But January is the time of year when farmers are not out working their land…

The official website has an abundance of information, so do visit!

Opening its doors in 2001, The National Civil War Museum offers an insightful glimpse into that past..documenting and cataloging four years of that war (1861-1865) as well as before the war and the aftermath, encompassing the years of 1850-1876.  Thousands of artifacts and documents are available for public viewing, as well as many thousand more securely stored for future exhibits,  scholarly research, museum members and private appointment. A Glimpse of Fall at the 1825 Inn, 2014 27 Oct 2014, 7:00 am

THE 1825 INN

FALL 2014

Each season brings its own special magic..and Fall at the 1825 Inn is no exception.

Days are getting a little shorter, sweaters and jackets are making an appearance, and there is that certain nip in the air..not to mention the occasional whiff of wood smoke.  To many, it’s a time to mourn the loss of suntan lotion and air conditioning for another spell.  Not to us at the Inn as we look forward to what this time of year brings.

The garden was good to us this year.  Tomatoes and green beans couldn’t thank us enough for giving them honored spots in our garden plot..each time we say this will be the last harvest, more seem to appear!  Sunny zinnias continued to grace our tables in the breakfast room until a week or so ago.  We’re now noticing beauty of a different sort in the rose hips from our prolific canes, sedum is coming into its own  and, of course, the leaves are changing quickly  (and dropping just as fast!).

We at the Inn hope not only that you take time to smell the roses, but take the time to enjoy all that these Fall months have to offer..
