Mannheim Steamroller Christmas at Hershey Theatre, November 2014 28 Jul 2014, 7:00 am

 Hershey Theatre

Sunday, November 30, 2014

What a wonderful way to begin your 2014 holiday season!  If you haven’t heard this group live, now is your opportunity to experience the Steamroller..

From a musical family, Chip Davis studied at the University of Michigan and came away as a classically trained musician, mastering bassoon and percussion.  His work credits included music teacher and jingle writer for a prominent ad agency in Omaha, Nebraska.

His musical intuition took him on the road to where he is today..billed as the longest running tour in the music industry, they are celebrating their 30th Anniversary of the Christmas Tour. It is also the 40th Anniversary of his first album in the Fresh Aire series, a real game-changer in the music industry.

Mannheim Steamroller has taken traditional Christmas favorites…and turned them into favorites all over again!  One of their most popular with fans is Deck the Halls.  Check their website for more samples of Christmas cheer and more.

Mazzoli Ice Cream in Hershey, PA 21 Jul 2014, 7:00 am

Since the mid-fifties, Mazzoli’s has been producing some of the area’s finest gelatos..

Founded in 1956 by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mazzoli of Hershey.  From the late 1920′s through the early 1940′s, Mr. Mazzoli served as Milton S. Hershey’s dairy chef at The Hotel Hershey and the Hershey Creamery..he and Mr. Hershey worked closely to bring new products, flavors and desserts to the mid-state.

After Fred Mazzoli passed away, another family bought the home and the little shop tucked into the rear of the property and continues making gelato from the original recipes.  Gelato is as good as it gets..with lower fat content and less air than ice cream, it produces a more intense flavor.  Try the Spumoni and the Tortoni, two Italian staples.  They also have different special flavors available at any given time so it’s best to check with them via telephone 717-533-2252 or via their Facebook page. This week they have handmade gelato di melone (cantelope gelato), raspberry sorbetto and pistachio ice cream.

Cullari Vineyards and Winery, Hershey, PA 26 Jun 2014, 7:00 am

As owners of this small yet distinctive winery, Salvatore and Kathi Cullari work hard to ensure their wines are of the highest quality for their customers..they would not sell a wine they themselves wouldn’t drink.

Located in Hershey, the first vines met the local soil in 2000.  With their second vineyard and planting in 2007, the Cullaris doubled their size.  Salvatore and Kathi specialize in both traditional dry and sweet reds, whites and pinks as well as some unusual grape and fruit varieties located only at their tasting rooms.  Most of their wines are produced in small quantities which means they tend to sell out very quickly.

Cullari grows both vinifera type grapes (common European grape cultivated in many varieties; chief source of Old World wine and table grapes) such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc, Chardonnay…and hybrid varieties (resulting from two different species of grapes) to include Vidal Blanc, Chambourcin and Chancellor. Of note, they are one of the few vineyards in Pennsylvania to grow Zinfandel, Barbara and Sangiovese.

To learn more about the Cullaris, their vineyards, hours of operation and wine..please visit their wonderful and informative website
