Originally built as a Publick House, this 1815 Federal-style building became the site of the first Confederate stand and hospital during the Civil War. Listed in the National Register, the inn's 19th-century heritage and glory has now been faithfully restored, and a new wing added.The enchanting atmosphere of the Inn at Herr Ridge is unforgettable. On the Gettysburg battlefield only minutes from town, the Inn offers guests a rare experience. The main house of the Inn was built in 1815, and became a field hospital during the battle. Tastefully decorated, charmingly distinctive rooms await you. Enjoy an evening in your room by the fireplace, or step into your private Jacuzzi bath. Two commons rooms overlook the historic area from Peace Light to Little Round Top. Each of the romantic suites feature a fireplace, most offer double Jacuzzis. The Garden Room also boasts a round bed, microwave, refrigerator and private deck. The adjacent Annex provides five rooms with Jacuzzi's, fireplaces and private decks. Enjoy a wonderful country breakfast in the restaurant, as well as afternoon tea and snacks. Stroll the landscaped grounds amidst two watergarden ponds. Banquet and meeting facilities are also located on the premises. Enjoy fine American cuisine in the five dining areas as well as the lounge.The Inn at Herr Ridge has been featured on PBS. It is located close to golfing, skiing, horseback riding, battlefield tours, historic sites, state parks, and antique shopping.
