Our historic Eagles Mere Inn extends over two buildings in the heart of town. A lovely lawn joins the two structures, offering places to rest and read or enjoy a cold ice tea or local brew from our pub. Stretch out in the hammock, cuddle on a bench, or rock away on our front porch. On Summer evenings and extending into the Fall, sit around our fire pit and enjoy the company of other guests. Tour past Eagles Mere's 100+-year-old Victorian Cottages on barely traveled streets or take to the approved forest paths. Tours from relaxed to "thigh busting". We also lend our bikes.

Eagles Mere Country Club
1/2 mile from the Inn. A great private seasonal club and course. Guests staying at the Inn have privileges for Golf, Tennis, Lunch and use of the Bar. Excellent 18 hole course, driving range, two new Tennis courts or lunch overlooking the mountains. Greens fees $70 to $90 per round, including cart. Availability of tee times may be limited. The Club only takes Cash and personal checks.

Cross country skiing out our door and only 1 1/2 blocks from the inn are the Conservancy Trails & the Lake. Where the locals go if you have your own skis or borrow ours.

Swimming and Boating

Eagles Mere Lake Association
A private, pristine lake surrounded by pine, mountain laurel and giant rhododendron. Our guests have access to this private lake and Laurel Path. In the Summer there is a fee to rent canoes, sailboats, paddle boats, use the beach facilities and ride around the lake in the "Hardly Able" a canvas covered motor launch, the only power boat allowed on the lake. Sailing races and length of the mile long lake swims are planned. During the summer there are also children’s programs at the Beach and ball field.

World’s End State Park
In summer they dam up a portion of the Loyalsock Creek to form a pool of fresh water in which to swim. About 7 miles from the Inn.

Rickett’s Glen/Lake Jean
In summer swim in Lake Jean and rent canoes and rowboats. 30 minutes from the Inn

Bubb’s Outdoor Canoe Rentals

Eagles Mere Museum
Small museum featuring memorabilia from the 1800's hotels when Eagles Mere was a mountain resort for wealthy Philadelphians. The old hotels are now gone and the Eagles Mere Inn remains as the last Inn built for the guests of that era. Check at the desk for the limited hours they are open.

French Azilum

Hikes and Scenic Places

Eagles Mere Lake & Laurel Path
Just 400 paces from the Inn lies a crystal clear lake enveloped by a forest of Pine, Mountain Laurel and giant Rhododendron. Two mile Laurel Path encircles the lake past streams, boulders and caves to the Old Fashioned Beach & Boat Club. In Summer Swimmers, Sailboats & Kayaks ply the lake. In the winter the lake is the scene of the famous Toboggan Slide and Ice Skating.

Eagles Mere Nature Conservancy
Much of the land & forest around Eagles Mere is protected by the Conservancy. They maintain miles of trails for hiking and a nature center. cross country skiing is available too.

World’s End state park & Wyoming State Forest
Six miles from the Inn, World’s End is virtually in a class by itself. This wild and rustic area seems untamed. The scenery is spectacular, especially the June mountain laurel and fall foliage. High Knob and Canyon vista provide outstanding views and vistas. A great place for hiking, sight seeing, fishing, swimming, picnicking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling and hunting. Rickett’s Glen State Park and Waterfall Trail
30 minutes from the Inn, Rickett’s Glen has 22 waterfalls from 11 to 94 feet high. A 4-mile natural gorge trail boasts 17 wild, free flowing waterfalls, each cascading through rock-strewn clefts in this ancient precipice. Old growth timber and diverse wildlife add to the scenic area. Ice forms on the falls and trails during winter. In addition to the spectacular waterfall trail there is swimming, fishing, picnicking, cross country skiing and environmental education programs. The Loyalsock Trail
Eagles Mere’s Conservancy trails link with this 59-mile trail, which follows mountain ridges and streams through the Loyalsock Creek watershed. It passes through parts of the Tiadaghton and Wyoming State Forests. The extremes of elevation are 65" to 2140’.

High Knob Vista
A short drive on paved roads through the forest to view miles & miles of mountains, soaring birds, banks of Mountain Laurel and spectacular sunsets.

Canyon Vista
A short drive up a gravel road through the forest to a view of the Loyalsock Creek in the canyon below. The best spot for fall color.

The Haystacks
11-mile drive to a trail leading to an unusual formation of rocks in the Loyalsock Creek which form mini whirlpool "spas".

Fern Rock Nature Trail, Angel Falls, Bear Wallow & Kettle Creek Gorge
Relatively close by to explore in this pristine forested area

Covered Bridges
Our area has many old wooden covered bridges. There are 3 close to the Inn and a variety of others sprinkled around the counties of our region. Take a couple of hours or a day visiting these 100 year-old structures spanning creeks and rivers.
