The Carriage House
The Carriage House, originally the barn for the Mendenhall Farm (now next door) was originally built around 1865. The current Hedgerow property was divided from the Mendenhall's in 1896. Then about 1934, Pierre DuPont, of Longwood Gardens, started a program to provide employee housing in the area. Part of the program was to convert the top of the Carriage House for a Longwood family. The latest remodeling was the conversion to the B&B in 1995. Recently, extensive landscaping was done, including 160 linear feet of brick walks and a small patio (12' x 25' irregular) off the dining room.
