  • Introduction

The Springfield House Inn on Main Street in Boalsburg can be your upscale State College, Pennsylvania bed and breakfast lodging while visiting Penn State University. It is surrounded by quaint shops, museums and historic homes. A restored 19th century American tavern and a Seattle inspired seafood and beef house, both with award winning cuisine, are only a few steps away. The graceful blend of Victorian and federal architecture, beautifully enhanced by its generously proportioned wrap-around porch, has made it one of the village's most treasured and frequently photographed buildings.

Built in stages from 1833 to 1847, and completely renovated in 2005, The Springfield House maintains its charm as a civil war era family home, while offering the convenience and amenities of an upscale Boutique Hotel. With five generously sized and traditionally furnished rooms, all with well appointed in-suite baths, TVs, DVD Players and Wireless Internet the Inn is the perfect combination.

    Meet The Innkeepers

Your on-site resident Innkeepers are Cheryl and Bill Speakman. They are assisted in their duties by their Golden Retriever, Kelsey, who, although not generally permitted in guest areas, rules the Innkeeper's quarters.

Cheryl Speakman is a life-long resident of the State College Area. A high school teacher and coach for over 30 years, Cheryl knows all of the ins, outs and people of the State College, Boalsburg and Penn State Communities. As a volunteer assistant Penn State Lady Lions basketball coach for 6 years, Cheryl is particularly interested in women's sports. If there is anything that you would like to know about the area, just ask Cheryl. Bill Speakman, the resident cook and handy man, learned his trade in the family restaurant business. A 30 year resident of the area, he served as Development Director for Penn State Public Broadcasting and as a funding consultant to several youth music organizations before he and Cheryl took over the Springfield House in 2005. Bill loves to talk about music, kids and most recently, remodeling (always an ongoing project in a 150-year-old home).

We are here to make your stay an enjoyable and unique experience.
