European Ambiance with Victorian Charm in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania
The Reynolds Mansion is only miles off of Route 80 and is walking distance to the many esoteric shops and other Victorian mansions in charming downtown Bellefonte, PA. Ideally situated, travelers find us to be a great half-way destination between points west and the east coast.
The Reynolds Mansion was built in the 1880s as a single-family home, and today its integrity has been rejuvenated through meticulous maintenance and historic preservation. Enjoy one of our uniquely decorated guest rooms; each with private bathrooms, complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, DVD players, fireplaces, and luxury linens. Jacuzzi tubs maximize relaxation and complement a romantic getaway. In addition, your host, Mike, prepares three-course gourmet breakfasts daily, and his wife, Tricia, plays classical piano music in the parlor.
Experience "Happy Valley", which is an often-used term to describe the State College area. Apparently the term became widely used in the 1960s when network telecasts of Nittany Lions football games began. In 2009, State College was ranked as the safest metropolitan area in the United States. The area is served by University Park Airport, a fifteen minute drive from the Reynolds Mansion Bed and Breakfast.
We have been recognized by InnTraveler as, "Best Near a College or University" and have been on numerous magazine covers. Please take a moment to read one of the glowing reviews from our fabulous guests from all around the world. Thank you for visiting reynoldsmansion.com. We hope to see you on your next visit to Central Pennsylvania!
The Reynolds Mansion, now a luxury hotel in Pennsylvania, was completed in 1885 by Major William Frederick Reynolds, a wealthy businessman, landowner, and banker. The home is of the late Victorian period featuring an eclectic blend of Gothic, Italianate, and Queen Anne styles. The stone for the exterior was quarried by the Hummelstown Brownstone Company in Hummelstown, PA. Due to its purple or blue cast, it is referred to as blue brownstone. The Carriage House, situated at the back of the property, was built in 1893, and the semi-circular addition was built in 1901. This building was also once used as a chapel.
The Andriaccios believe that while choosing to stay in the Bellefonte/State College area, the Reynolds Mansion truly stands out in a town full of outstanding properties. On first sight, the majestic appearance of the Mansion inspires guests to explore the inside. Entering through the lavish marble foyer complete with infinity mirrors and an original gas lamp, guests discover the period-specific grand common areas including the living room, billiard room, dining room, and Snuggery (a room where gentlemen retired to enjoy brandy and cigars). Interior details of the Mansion include classic mirrors, handcrafted woodwork, stained glass windows, detailed molding, and inlaid parquet floors of which no two are the same. The woodwork of the Mansion is a very interesting part of the construction. The paneled ceiling in the main hall is a rich walnut, as well as the staircase which is hand carved and adorned with a brass lamp on the newel post. The dining room, however, features chestnut wood, which is warm, inviting, and light. Perhaps most interesting is the use of pressed plaster, stained to look like wood, used in the billiard room as molding. Another unique feature is the functioning enunciator located in the kitchen. This original fixture was used to alert servants where their help was needed. The mansion boasts 13 fireplaces, adorned with original ornate tiles that were hand crafted in England.

Accommodations at our Pennsylvania bed and breakfast consist of four second-floor guestrooms and three third-floor rooms. All rooms have private baths. An inviting alternative to lodging at hotels in State College, PA, our Bellefonte bed and breakfast offers elegantly appointed suites with luxurious amenities, such as fireplaces and Jacuzzis in some rooms, and a delicious three-course gourmet breakfast each morning.
Selected as "Innkeepers of the Year 2012" by the PA Tourism & Lodging Association
Tricia has 15 years in public education as a high school choral director and at least that many teaching private piano lessons. She has played the piano for more than twenty high school musical productions as well as several professional theater companies. As the new innkeeper at the Reynolds Mansion, you may hear her play classical music in the afternoons. Tricia also plans to host music recitals for Penn State students.
Mike is a retired police officer. Having spent his 22 year career in both New York City and Nassau County on Long Island, he is ready for the laid-back atmosphere of Central Pennsylvania. After he retired, he started a handyman/construction business that was more successful than he anticipated and kept him working more than when he was as a police officer. Mike has always been a great cook and enjoys the challenge of cooking for twelve hungry football fans in his role of new innkeeper.
Mike and Tricia have always loved entertaining and have hosted large parties with complex menus, heated tents, and live music. The menus selected have been based on themes, such as an all Italian Easter Dinner for a party of 20. Dishes that have delighted guests include asparagus frittata, grilled eggplant with sweet peppers, sweet pea risotto, and veal scallops with prosciutto and sage. Mike and Tricia were also involved in a wine-tasting group back on Long Island, which met on a rotating basis between members' homes. They would love to incorporate wine and cheese pairings into the Reynolds Mansion Bed and Breakfast schedule.
The Innkeepers' daughter, Carly, is currently a graduate student at SUNY Stony Brook on Long Island. She loves the contrasting lifestyles; the quietness of Bellefonte and the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple. Also in residence at the Mansion are the Andriaccios' two dogs, Tony and Nia, who love to sneak out into the dining room to visit with guests after breakfast. -
Breakfast is truly a culinary delight here at the Reynolds Mansion, our bed and breakfast in Pennsylvania. We believe that dining should be something special, especially since breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
We prepare our menus to meet your food preferences, whether you want 3-course gourmet, heart-healthy, gluten free, vegetarian, or vegan. Catering to our guests needs is what we do best. We try to get locally grown fruits and vegetables.
For instance, during the summer months we buy from Amish markets. Our bacon and sausages are fresh from Scott's Roasting, a Bellefonte pork farm.
Our Pennsylvania accommodations include a delicious homemade breakfast served in the dining room each day at 9:00am. Tables for two or one grand table for larger parties are set with fine china, fresh flowers, and lit candles. We always have a selection of teas and an assortment of juices awaiting your arrival. If you prefer an earlier start, a continental breakfast including juice, a fresh homemade muffin, fruit, and coffee or tea in a ”to go” cup can be prepared.
Please note, continental, heart-healthy, gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan breakfasts must be arranged in advance.
