Located in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, here you will find the Old Order Amish, their horse and buggy travel and plain dress contrasting starkly with the modern world. Adamstown is called the Antique Capital of the USA. During the spring, fall, and summer months, more than 3,000 dealers can be found selling their wares.

Before a day of exploring Pennsylvania's Amish Country, join us at the Amethyst Inn Bed and Breakfast for a continental plus breakfast served in the dining room of the Amethyst Inn. For breakfast we offer an assortment of gourmet fruit juices, fresh or baked fruit, several types of home made baked goods, gourmet cheeses, sausage balls, or crab or brie puffs, hot and cold home made cereals, etc. Each day experience a different breakfast delight from our homemade recipes. • History of the Inns

    Adamstown Inn

The original structure located 62 West Main Street dates back to the early eighteen hundreds. Between 1925 and1927, major renovations and additions were completed by the Redcay Family, owners of the Adamstown Hat Company. The wrap around porch was added at that time. The Bermans purchased the property in 1988. After seven months of extensive remodeling and renovating, the Adamstown Inn opened for business in 1989.

Amethyst InnIn response to an overwhelming request for additional guest rooms, the Berman's purchased a second property in Adamstown - the Amethyst Inn. This structure dates from 1830's with the most recent additions during the 1870's. Tom and Wanda are painstakingly restoring both the interior and exterior. They have chosen to clad the exterior of the Amethyst Inn in seven colors creating their second Victorian Painted Lady.

Architectural elements including gingerbread, wooden quoins (corner blocks), medallions, and detail features are highlighted in amethyst, gold, lavender, and forest green with a magnificent nine foot high intricately carved front door.
