Newberg is a city in Yamhill County, Oregon. A Newberg inn provides a great base to explore the Chehalem Park and Recreation District. This district encompasses 68 square miles of Yamhill County and is based in the communities of Newberg and Dundee. The District is responsible for administering programs, which enrich leisure time, foster physical and mental well-being and provide positive free time opportunities for its roughly 25,000 residents. Recreation programs are funded by participants, enabling the District to maintain hundreds of acres of public lands, three community centers, the Aquatic Center/Weight Room facility and a Scout House for local youth. While staying at a local B&B, make sure to visit some of the local wineries. The Willamette Valley is home to some of the finest wineries in the northwest, many receiving worldwide recognition for the variety and quality of their wines. Yamhill County has over 25 wineries. A bed and breakfast vacation should include a visit to Champoeg Park, which offers nature and recreation at its finest. The park provides picnic sites, an amphitheater, and bike and hiking trails along the Willamette River. Champoeg's past is preserved in buildings and historical sights. There is an annual Champoeg State Park Pageant. A historical site not to miss is the Herbert Hoover House, the boyhood home of the 31st President of the United States. The house is open daily for tours. Dining options include Pasquale's Italian Restaurant, known for it great food and service and Izzy's Pizza Restaurant. Izzy's has good pizza and an outstanding buffet.
