Just ten miles from Bend, the Newberry National Volcanic Monument is in the Deschutes National Forest. There are two alpine lakes, campgrounds, and during the winter season, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. If camping isn't your thing, you should consider staying at one of Bend's fine B&B establishments. Fun for the whole family, the Working Wonders Children's Museum is an interactive experience. Exhibits include art, culture, and science. Crossings at the Riverhouse is arguable Bend's best steakhouse. On N Highway 97, Crossings has a menu of prime beef and seafood, and has live entertainment and deck dining. Deschutes Brewery Inc. allows visitors to view the beer brewing process, and they can enjoy the product, as well as great food at the same time.
