Our historical bathhouse dates back to the turn of the century when a young Sulphur Springs was alive with excitement and bathhouses abounded. One of those establishments was the Caylor Bathhouse which has become the Sulphur Springs Inn Bed & Breakfast and Cottages.
We offer you an opportunity to experience the
serenity of days gone by when this area was known as the "Peaceful Valley of Rippling Waters" and people came from distant lands to experience the healing powers of the sulphur mud and bromide springs.
Nestled in the Arbuckle Mountains at the edge of the old Sulphur Springs Reservation, then the Platt National Park, and now the Chickasaw National Park, our historical bathhouse of healing waters offers our guest an atmosphere of simple elegance and an appreciation for nature. Our front door opens into Oklahoma's most beautiful and sacred grounds; affording our guests easy access to Nature's healing medicinal springs, unique flora, fauna, geological formations and abundant wildlife.
As owners and your innkeepers, it is our sincere intent to provide you a brief retreat from the pressures of modern living and our desire that you leave refreshed and renewed in body and spirit. Please join us in our haven for the gentle souls.
Our historical Inn opened in 1925 as the Caylor Bathhouse. It was one of two bathhouses located at the old park entrance. Fortunately the old Caylor Bathhouse, now the Sulphur Springs Inn, still stands.
Strong sulphur water once flowed through the old bathhouse and patrons soaked in tubs under her pavilion on endless, lazy summer days. This old bathhouse's large well also supplied water to the park's Bromide Pavilion, 30 foot Bromide fountain and Lilly pond located about 200 yards away in the National Park.
Today some of the pavilion springs are dry, though there is an interest in them flowing again some day. In some ways the healing powers of theBromide Pavilion springs still linger, as Saturday evenings of summer brings the soothing sound of local musicians playing the tunes of old time music.
Now the old bathhouse is a Bed and Breakfast Inn, but she is still as alive and vibrant as 1925. She is of strong design and carries herself with quiet and simple elegance. Outside is a large covered pavilion with hammocks and Adirondack chairs: these to wile away the budding Spring, lazy Summer and cool Fall days.
The interior of the Inn opens to our guest with a parlor, dining and kitchen area on the first floor. Upstairs are seven tastefully decorated bedrooms and a massage room to soothe the body and spirit. Adjacent to the old bathhouse are three cottage suites that provide more modern accommodations. Of course our Inn does not stand alone, as it is one with nature, and as such it is a sanctuary of peace and harmony for those who choose to stop, but for a brief respite.
Our bedrooms cater to adults in a romantically quaint setting. They are located in the old Caylor Bathhouse, it houses seven thoughtfully appointed, antique-filled rooms to help take guest back in time. Each of the rooms date to the 1920's, has a queen bed, a bath en suite, WiFi and is free of television and phone: only the lazy tic-toc of the wind-up clock intrudes upon the restful soul. Down the hall awaits the massage room ready to soothe the body and spirit.
Downstairs, guests have access to the parlor, dining and spa areas. Games, musical instruments, some antique noise boxes and a large capacity table (seats 14) make for a warm and fun gathering area. But the outside pavilion is our favorite on a summer evening, with a cool breeze and good friends.
Our cottage suites are ideal for growing families and are located adjacent to the old bathhouse. Like the bathhouse, they provide front door access to our beautiful park. Each suite is tastefully decorated, and sleeps up to five guest. Each has a kitchenette that includes coffeemaker, toaster, waffle iron, crock pot, microwave and refrigerator. All suites have cable TV and two of the suites have a propane grill out the back door.
