Heartland Country Resort

Welcome to Heartland Country Resort, a luxury bed and breakfast with horseback riding in a serene, scenic country setting of rolling hills, pastures, fields, and woodlands, just an hour from Columbus, Ohio.

Lodging at Heartland consists of three log home suites located on a wooded hillside at the north edge of the 70+ acres of the resort.

All accommodations include private bathrooms, bathrobes, televisions, VCR's, tape and CD players, air conditioning, scenic views on two or three sides, and a great country breakfast. All guests are welcome to use the large recreation room, pool table, volleyball, and horseshoes.  Relax by the bonfire, pet the animals, and participate in other various activities on 70+ acres.

Relaxation at Heartland can include curling up with a good book in a cozy chair in front of a warm fire, having a relaxing massage, listening to soothing music, enjoying a Jacuzzi bath, sitting on the porch listening to the birds sing, or lounging on the private porch.

Heartland Country Resort welcomes both children and pets, although some restrictions apply. We provide stalls for those who would like to bring their own horses, and we offer a Horse Lovers Camp for youth at certain times in the summer. We customize experiences for large and small groups.

Heartland is in a farm setting on a quiet country road. The resort is located about an hour northeast of Columbus, only a few miles from I-71. Although the address is Fredericktown, the closest town is Chesterville.

Dorene Henschen, owner of Heartland Country Resort, loves the country and values her childhood on the family farm, where she gained a great appreciation for animals and the land. She enjoys sharing the country with other people and hopes Heartland brings to each guest, some peace and joy. She is also a teacher in Upper Arlington, a suburb of Columbus. She enjoys teaching and working with young people.  Her hobbies and interests vary from landscaping, designing, decorating, and reading, to traveling, skiing, hiking, horseback riding, films, food, and socializing. She looks forward to your visit!

The Lodge Meeting Room
The Lodge Meeting space is an ideal space for your next wedding, party, corporate meeting, or family gathering. The large open floor plan allows for six tables, presentation space, and a cozy sitting area when your guests need to step away for a moment. The Heartland Country Resort hosts Horse Camps for kids of varying ages and riding abilities. Horse Camp length ranges from one-day camps to 4-day overnight camps.

Overnight campers stay in the Lodge Suite and can participate in many activities when not participating in horsemanship. 4-day campers can participate in the local Horse Show.
