The "Singing Innkeeper" also has a green thumb! More than 7,000 tulips are expected to bloom from late April through mid-May on the grounds of The Lamplight Inn B&B located in Berlin, known as the "heart" of Ohio's Amish country, which is the world's largest Amish/Mennonite community. Voted "Best NE Ohio B&B" for four consecutive years, The Lamplight Inn B&B features seven elegantly decorated guestrooms, each with its own distinctive color scheme and decor. All seven rooms offer private baths. Five of the guestrooms feature a king bed. Four "deluxe" king rooms offer a cozy fireplace and a luxury bath with a jetted tub and a large walk-in shower. One queen room and one king room feature standard baths with tub/shower combination. "Hillside Suite," located in the spacious walk-out area of the lower level and decorated to capture "old world" charm, offers a queen bed, standard bath, fully equipped kitchen and dinette.
Situated atop softly rolling hills, the 9-year-old country-Victorian inn is a quiet respite offering guests a spectacular view of Amish farms, grazing horses, flowering meadows, and winding lanes. A wrap-around porch lined with comfortable rocking chairs, and a screened gazebo provide plenty of space for relaxing and enjoying the great view. Within walking distance are shops galore along the main street of Berlin. Unique crafts, candles, furniture, quilts, and antiques delight visitors from all over the world.
Spring is breathtakingly beautiful at the Inn, presenting a brilliant array of tulips in a variety of colors. Innkeeper Larry employed Amish neighbor, Dan Miller, to create a 16-ft. steel frame in the shape of a music note. The frame is filled with 700 "Tequila Sunrise" tulips which produce stunning 5" blooms in a colorful combination of peach and red-orange, along with a mixture of gold and red tulips. This vivid display graces the front entrance to the inn and shouts a happy welcome as guests arrive.

16-ft. music note at the b&b entrance is filled with 700 tulips. The colors are different each year.
7,000 mid-Spring Tulips
Approximately 3,000 tulips in another bed. The rich purple is named "Negrita".The white is named "Catharina".The rich orange is named "Amazone".
Carrying the tulip theme indoors, guests enjoy an evening cup of tea or hot cocoa with Innkeeper Helen's almond-flavored cut-out cookies in the shape of a tulip, frosted in vivid colors similar to the real tulips!
A hearty country breakfast is served each day at 8:30 a.m. in the spacious dining room. Breakfast favorites include Stuffed French Toast, Baked German Apple Pancake with Vanilla Cream Sauce, Oven Scrambled Eggs, or a Vegetable Egg Casserole, served with fresh fruit, hash browns or thick-sliced buttered toast, and breakfast meats. Several recipes are featured at the inn's website. An additional treat during the morning meal are romantic serenades from the grand piano, played and sung by Innkeeper Larry. Selections include arrangements by George Gershwin, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Cole Porter, plus a variety of familiar show tunes. Guests have discovered that The Lamplight Inn is a perfect setting for anniversaries and other special occasions.
