More About the Home
The College House Bed and Breakfast is a 1910 Colonial Revival American Foursquare, renovated in 1951. In part as a reaction to the excesses found in the Victorian era, the home was developed in true American style architecture. Instead of the large covered porch typically found in Colonial Revival American Foursquare homes, the house features a smaller porch with wrought iron railings. The outside of the house is painted in white with black shutters, and the inside is decorated with touches of colonial.
Since buying the house in 2006, many restorations and modern features have been installed, such as:
- New siding, roof and gutters
- Blown-in insulation
- All new windows
- Garage installations include a new roof, siding and gutters
- Central air conditioning
- Refinished hardwood floors
- Repainted all the walls and trim
- Updated the electrical wiring
- Reconfigured a hallway
- Updated the patio
- Complete renovation of the first floor bathroom for the Music Department guestroom, opened July 2007
- Complete renovation of the third floor to create the Art Department guestroom, opened October 2007
- Renovations of the second floor bathroom to give the English Department guest room a spacious whirlpool tub, opened June 2008
- Addition of private bathroom and shower to the History Department guest room, opened June 2008

"Thank you so much for a wonderful, wonderful stay. After spending 4 nights in a non-descript motel a few months ago, I knew when I came back to Ashland for my second Formational Prayer Seminar that I wanted to stay someplace nice! So glad I found you!
Loved my room! Thanks for re-making the bed for me. The fluffy duvet was just perfect for me. Slept like a baby after the long seminar days. And the tub!! My first bath since my knee replacements. Will never forget it and how the Lord spoke to me about His lavish love as I enjoyed the lavish bubbles.
Breakfast was a treat every morning... I felt right at home (though we don't have heated tiles in our bathroom--WOW! What a luxury. I loved it!) Thanks for pampering me. This will definitely be my 'home away from home' whenever I come to Ashland."
