Marilyn’s Melrose Inn Bed and Breakfast is in historic Tryon, NC. Located in the beautiful foothills of the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina, Tryon and the surrounding areas offer many activities and sites to visit. Tryon is within about an hour’s drive of Asheville, Charlotte and Greenville (SC).
There is every possible activity within a few miles- many amazing golf courses, several lakes and rivers for fishing, boating, water skiing, kayaking, and canoeing. Throughout the year our area has hikes, wine tastings, heritage craft shows, floral garden tours, and equestrian activities.

Caring about my guests from the moment they arrive – through a 3 course gourmet breakfast to needs for their day in town and perhaps departure.

That my guests do not want to leave!! – they extend their stay and rebook several times a year – JUST TO COME BACK AND “BE.”
What’s the best kept secret about the area?
How prolific “fun” is – within 4-5 miles….Assorted venues, Antiques – over 100 individual sellers within 5 miles, music (free concerts) everywhere, food venues, almost all types and prices from Gpourmet to ethnic to BBQ and fast! – very diverse, art galleries beyond belief!

Whatever their interests are…WATER, HIKING, SHOPPING, WALKING THE STREETS AND ENJOYING THE DIVERSE SHOPS.
Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?
YES – STARTING WITH – ACROSS THE STREET….A 4 MILLION DOLLAR FINE ARTS CENTER! 2 blocks away begins down town Tryon – 8 art galleries, 4 public gift shops…a top notch theater…food venues, a wine/beer store run by owners!
What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?
Melrose Inn – Gourmet private dining club Friends of The Chef! Reserve in advance and decide menu in advance, with the chef! – then arrive and have a luxurious experience at a very inexpensive cost.

Breakfast and Dining Club
The Melrose Inn boasts gourmet chefs on-staff to satisfy your every culinary craving. Locals and visitors alike can participate in our Friends of the Chef private dining club.
Special dietary needs and preferences are gladly met with advanced notification. Name of guest, phone number, and details of dietary considerations must be provided upon reservation prior to check in, so that we are prepared to serve you properly.
Breakfast is available for all overnight guests to fit your schedule between 5 a.m. and 11 a.m. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate or other seasonal beverages are available 6:30 a.m. till 9 at night.
Weddings and Special Events
Melrose Inn wedding parties are indeed welcome. We have numerous options available and the staff loves to customize our facility, grounds, and meals to meet with your preferences and budget. We have both indoor and outdoor locations to select from. We have abundant space to host your reception or formal sit down dinner. Menu and service options will be customized to make your event perfect.
The Melrose Inn is also perfect for reunions, dances, and small and large gatherings of all types. Gatherings can be single day or multiple day events involving formal sit down meals, buffets, or just appetizers. The entire inn is gracious and free-flowing, inviting guests to mingle and socialize freely and easily.
There are numerous spaces for guests to gather comfortably both indoor and outdoors on the front porch or terraced gardens. We have a game room, an entry parlor, a bar, and several cozy seating areas, as well as two large spacious rooms with tables and chairs for dining.

Pets are welcome at the Melrose Inn!
There is a small $10 fee (per pet, per night), to accommodate your furry companion, and they too will get breakfast! (scrambled eggs and bacon, if allowed).
We are across the street from one lovely city park, just down the street from another, and Melrose Avenue is a popular dog walking area of town so you and your “best friend” can enjoy the natural ambiance of the local area on your walks.

Please note Marilyn, the owner, has two outdoor cats at the inn,
but they are not allowed in the area of the guest rooms.
Their names are Mr. Misty, who is sociable, and Angelina, whom you may never see.
They are brother and sister and if you talk nicely they will let you pet them.
