Raleigh's first Bed and Breakfast, The Oakwood Inn Bed and Breakfast, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located in the 1871 Strong-Stronach House.
Many original details remain, including names scratched on a windowpane in 1875. Restored in 1984 as a bed and breakfast, the Inn takes its name from Historic Oakwood, the intact nineteenth century neighborhood where it resides.
The twenty square blocks of the historic district display a colorful array of architectural styles from Greek Revival to "steamboat" Gothic. Step into the parlor where the gleam of mahogany, crystal and soft filtered light recreate the romantic legacy that was the Victorian era. Experience the distinctive character of our six guest rooms, each richly furnished with period antiques and accessories.
