January 7th and 8th, 2012 is the big Wedding Expo Weekend held by the Outer Banks Wedding Association. This year a special guest appearance will be made by David Tutera of WE TV's My Fair Wedding with David Tutera during the Exclusive Saturday night Cocktail Reception.This annual weekend event brings brides-to-be from all over the United States where they can tour venues and meet over 170 wedding vendors on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. You may choose to be married at The White Doe Inn, nearby overlooking Shallowbag Bay on the Manteo Waterfront, or one of the beautiful beaches along the Outer Banks. White Doe Inn guest Teresa says "I went to the WinterLights at Elizabethan Gardens last week and was enchanted! Got to meet Nickie, Troy, and Ned the head gardener. Nickie did most of the work according to the other two warming by the Christmas fire, and she did a fantastic job. It was hard to pick my favorite, but in the end, I voted for the Gingerbread houses with a Church complete with "stain-glassed" windows. I was so charmed by the people and displays that I joined the Elizabethan Gardens as a member, and can't wait to go back! Thanks for a great trip and wonderful evening... God Bless us everyone!"

Roanoke Island offers many wonderful events and festivities during this time of the year. History and tradition are important to this community and many of the events are centered around it's English heritage in addition to it's history.The month of December is filled with special activities that begin with the Annual Lighting of the Town Christmas Tree the first Friday of December. Held in front of the historic old courthouse on Queen Elizabeth Street, it is a magical celebration full of music, spirit and joy that for over 400 years has touched the lives of Roanoke Island residents at Christmas. The celebration includes the lighting of the tree, the yule log and bonfire and of course Santa.

Thanksgiving is upon us and we here at the White Doe Inn are blessed to have so many coming to join us this year. November may be the off season for us here on the Outer Banks but there is still plenty to see and do for visitors. The 3rd Annual Outer Banks Gobbler 5K and Little Giblet Fun Run, presented by the Outer Banks Running Club, will be held Thanksgiving Day at 8:00 am in Nags Head. Watch the night sky magically transform as kites with lights glow in the sky atop Jockey's Ridge State Park on November 26th with Kites with Lights.December is right around the corner, and brings with it all the festivities downtown at the Manteo Waterfront. December 2nd is First Friday and also marks Manteo's Annual Tree Lighting and Celebration. The Elizabethan Gardens presents Grand Illuminations on December 3rd, a perfect evening event. Many of our guests that are booked for this weekend have a standing reservation, they know how magical it is here at this time of year. White Doe Inn unveils the Tower Suite, a Luxury Suite on the Outer Banks NC 25 Oct 2011, 8:07 am
We are proud to announce the opening of the long awaited Tower Suite at The White Doe Inn. By far the largest of all the bedchambers at this circa 1910 home, it has been a satisfying journey to finish the last room in the house. The size of the Tower Suite allowed owners Bebe and Bob to offer many more amenities in this suite than in any other room of the house. With honeymooners and extended romantic getaways in mind, this suite is elegant and private.This suite offers a king size bed, a flat screened television, and a beautiful illuminating wall of candles in the bedroom. The large bath offers black marble tile, a large clawfoot tub that sit under beautiful stained glass windows and separate shower. A Keurig coffee maker, microwave and mini-fridge offer additional amenities to make guest feel more at home.
Glass French doors take you into the separate sitting area with a flat screen television and fireplace. This part of the suite encompasses the top of the tower and offers the round architecture of the Queen-Ann style
Victorian that so many love.

The White Doe Inn specializes in small intimate weddings. Weddings at the Inn are planned on the lawn, however sometimes the weather has a different plan. This wedding was one of those occasions, so the Inn was transformed inside to hold the ceremony and host a sit down dinner for 20. Having booked the entire Inn for their guests, The White Doe Inn was able to accommodate the bride and groom's wishes to create a "weekend event".Deborah was absolutely stunning as she descended the staircase. The ceremony was held in the parlor where Robert Woody officiated. The crystal chandelier's soft light danced in the mirrors during the ceremony and three course dinner. Deborah collected and made all the decorations herself, including the table decor and set up, each piece holding a special meaning. Everything sparkled, the chandeliers and the flickering table candles, it was entirely magical!

Kitty Hawk Kites Wright Kite Festival, Outer Banks and White Doe Inn 12 Jul 2011, 11:13 am
Presented by Kitty Hawk Kites, this festival is enjoyed by all ages with a spectacular kite show put on by Larger than Life Kites and members of Wings Over Washington.
Only a 20 minute drive from the White Doe Inn, enjoy a full four-course served breakfast at the Inn and have ample time to head over before the festivities begin at 10:00 am. See large sea animal kites and our deltas and parafoils dance in the air during this jaw dropping event. This Weekend, July 16 - 17 at the Wright Brother’s Memorial, Kill Devil Hills.

What better place to be than on the waterfront watching the fireworks shoot over the waters of Shallowbag Bay and the Elizabeth II Ship? The Town of Manteo has a fun filled day with events starting on the waterfront at 2:00 p.m., including many musicians and contests. Of course the Manteo Waterfront is filled with unique shops and great eateries to please everyone!
