The Ceremony

The Inn at Half-Mile Farm is situated on 14 acres of lawns, forests, ponds, and streams and is the perfect spot for your wedding ceremony. Whether you choose to exchange vows on the front lawn by Apple Lake, in the courtyard, or in front of the stacked stone fireplace in the gathering room of the historic Farm House, The Inn at Half-Mile Farm provides an elegant and romantic atmosphere for your special day.

The Courtyard Garden provides an exquisite and tranquil backdrop for that special ceremony any time of year. Perennials and annuals put on a spectacular show! The Gathering Room and Lobby of the Farm House are perfect for a small, intimate ceremony, while the Front Lawn is ideal for a larger event. It’s your day… tell us what you want and let us help make your dreams come true.

For a more traditional ceremony, there are churches of all denominations in the area.

The Reception

The Inn at Half-Mile Farm hosts both formal and informal receptions. Receptions may be held in several locations around the Inn.  The Front Lawn can accommodate up to 150 guests, while the dining room is the perfect place for an intimate gathering of up to 20 guests. The patio and courtyard area are splendid settings for cocktails and hors d’oeurves before your reception or for a bridal party luncheon. We can host a welcoming dinner for out-of-town guests, your rehearsal dinner, a mountain BBQ and even a casual country picnic. This is your event… and we are here to ensure it is everything you have dreamed about… and then some.

Entertainment

Whatever you’re looking for… A comedian to entertain guests at a welcoming dinner?  A DJ or live band to have your guests dancing all night long? Bagpipes, violins, or harps to play during your ceremony? … we are here to help!  The courtyard deck is specifically designed to accommodate your band or DJ and the patio makes the perfect dance floor. We will be happy to assist you in choosing the appropriate entertainment. (Amplified music must conclude by 11:00 pm)

Tenting & Rental Supplies

The best way to ensure a perfect day is proper planning. We have minimum tenting requirements that include a reception/dining tent and a receiving tent. A band tent is usually required by the DJ or band and we suggest a dance tent, as well. Our dedicated staff will be happy to help you determine the appropriate tenting specific to your event.

Caterers

Highlands, NC is home to award-wining dining. Many of the restaurants in the area also offer full catering services. In addition to these fine restaurants, The Inn at Half-Mile Farm has had the privilege of working with some of the very finest culinary talent in the area. We can provide you with contact information or work with a caterer you have already selected.

Florists, Photographers, and More

Our knowledgeable staff would be happy to assist you in coordinating florists, photographers, wedding cake artists, salon/spa appointments, transportation, and more.

Our Suites

The Inn at Half Mile Farm has 23 suites… each finely appointed. All of our guest rooms are individually heated and air conditioned, with a private bath, TV, and DVD player. Most rooms have fireplaces.

Bridal Veil Falls, our honeymoon suite, has a canopy king bed, with a double jetted bathtub, and separate shower. Relax in front of the corner stone fireplace or outside on the private wraparound deck overlooking the woods.

Additional Information

The entire facility, including all 23 rooms and 14 acres of fields, streams, and forests are reserved for your event.

The Inn at Half-Mile Farm is reserved upon the receipt of the contract, the room deposit, and the facility fee. The facility fee is determined based on the size and requirements of the event.

The facility fee includes pre-wedding portrait photography privileges, exclusive use of the gardens and grounds for two days/nights, and one day of events.

The Inn at Half-Mile Farm is pleased to provide all services and amenities normally associated with a guest stay. All guests staying “in-house” are provided with a hot, gourmet breakfast. Our wine and hors ‘d’oeurves hour is included, upon request.

Valet parking is required for all ceremonies/events with more than 10 outside guests. Valet staffing needs will be determined based on the size of the event; valet services are billed at $25.00 per hour for each valet.

We welcome your DJ, live band, and amplified music. In consideration of our neighbors, we require all amplified music to end no later than 11:00 p.m. The celebration can last as long as you’d like.

The Inn welcomes children over the age of 12. For special events, children under the age of 12 may stay in the cabin suites if they are available.

The Inn at Half-Mile Farm offers our rooms at a discounted rate when reserving the Inn for special events. Please ask for a rate sheet specific to your event.
