We are located near the southern North Carolina coast approximately 2 miles from the South Carolina border. Within a few short miles are the Brunswick Island beaches of Ocean Isle Beach, Sunset Beach, and Holden Beach. Also to our south are the shore towns of Cherry Grove, North Myrtle Beach, and Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. If the beach isn't for you try some of the numerous golf courses of the Grand Strand. There are 35 championship golf courses in Brunswick County that wind their way through some the most beautiful scenery on the East Coast. Crow Creek Golf Club, Meadowlands Golf Club, and Brunswick Plantation Golf Resort are the closest, but nearby are the Big Cats - Lion's Paw, Tiger's Eye and Panther's Run with Leopard's Chase to be completed in 2006. Antiques, local craft boutiques, and galleries all offer something for the casual or avid shopper. Museums like the Coastal Carolina Museum and nearby sites like the lighthouse of Bald Island, plantations, and forts may appeal to the historian or the curious tourist. In addition, how about trying - deep-sea fishing, kayaking, water-skiing, biking, hiking, or tennis? You can find numerous ways to fill your days with peace and relaxation or with excitement and lots of motion. The choice is yours.
To our north, you find historic Wilmington. Enjoy the southern charm of the historic city in the downtown area. Also there you will find the USS North Carolina. On the outskirts of the city you can visit Fort Fisher or the North Carolina Aquarium. Would you like to meet Simba? The Tote-Em-In Zoo houses the lion from the Disney Movie, "The Lion King."
To our south, you find the sun and fun capital of South Carolina - Myrtle Beach! Enjoy the fun at Broadway at the Beach or Barefoot Landing. The live shows at The Alabama Theatre, The Carolina Opry, The Palace Theatre, The Tribute, and the dinner shows of The Dixie Stampede or Medieval Times.
Dining in the area is as diverse as the fun. Dining can be as elegant as is offered at The Brentwood or The Parson's Table in Little River or as casual as Christopher's Pizzeria in Carolina Shores and anything in between. But if you are staying near Calabash, you should really try the Calabash Seafood places famous for the fresh fried shrimp, fish, and other seafood, hush puppies, and slaw.
