Hemlock Inn invites you to get away from your schedules as you enjoy our family-style meals, enjoy the company of new and old friends and family, and enjoy the beauty and many activities of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Inn has 22 rooms and three cottages, furnished in country antiques and pieces made by mountain craftspeople. The rooms are cozy and comfortable; each one is decorated and furnished differently. Lodging rates include a home-cooked breakfast; the dinner package rate includes a hearty, country dinner.
We are located in one of the most popular vacation areas in America ...
You can be part of the hustle and bustle or walk by yourself near a cool mountain stream. Hemlock Inn is a real country bed and breakfast inn sitting at an elevation of 2300 feet. The inn is ideally situated near Bryson City, Cherokee, and Fontana Lake and is located on 50 wooded acres - only 1.5 miles from an entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Western North Carolina.
Hemlock Inn specializes in simple pleasures ... like watching the sun rise over the mountains with a steaming cup of coffee in hand ... and the crackle of logs and the smell of wood smoke on a crisp mountain day ... or sitting on the front porch watching the mountains and chatting with friends, old and new.
Unlike large resorts, Hemlock Inn has no tennis courts, swimming pool, or TV sets ... and no daily schedules aside from breakfast and dinner hours. Guests, many of whom return each year, come for a change of pace, a change of scene, genuine home cooking, and simple pleasures of the Inn. They come to visit the Bryson City and Great Smokies area, but they also come for the unique experience and friendly attitude Hemlock Inn offers. During the summer, we are cooled by gentle mountain breezes, cross ventilation and ceiling fans in every room. While most rooms do not have air conditioning, evening temperatures are usually cool and comfortable.
Oh, the meals ...
Large, home-cooked breakfasts and dinners are served family style at large, round bountifully laden tables with lazy Susans. Neighbors supply us with fresh vegetables and fruits in season (in the summer, you may be treated to ears of corn picked just a few minutes before). Foods native to the area are featured, country ham, for example, and fried chicken, and homemade biscuits with mountain honey or our own apple or pumpkin chips. Yeast rolls and all our desserts are made from scratch. Visit with other guests during dinner and make some new friends.
Dinner is served at 6:30 pm daily Monday through Saturday. Breakfast is served at 8:30 am daily. You do not have to be an overnight guest to dine with us! We do not serve an evening meal on Sunday.
Our new Gift Shop opened in the Spring of 2005, and it's a browser's delight! You will find something for women, men and children of all ages. Our popular signature items are featured as well. The apple chips and pumpkin chips are made from our secret recipe. Our cookbook, Recipes From Our Front Porch, is in it's second printing!
