Come immerse yourself in a place of great beauty that nurtures both body and spirit. Located on a 24 acre nature preserve, we are W.N.C.’s   oldest organic, holistic B&B, renowned for our healthy, gourmet breakfasts, the beautiful organic gardens, and the simple elegance of our rooms.

Our 1910 Farmhouse and guest cottage are filled with treasured family antiques, fine paintings and handmade crafts. Lovely all-cotton linens and down comforters cover the beds while fresh flowers and herbs from the garden give each room a natural soothing ambiance. A stroll on the property reveals wildflower meadows, mountain views, forests, and a pond with gazebo. Our magical, renovated barn with its large decks is a perfect place for a wedding, an event, or just a quiet cup of tea watching for wild turkeys or deer in the meadow.

At the heart of this place, and our lives, are the beautiful, organic gardens, overflowing with flowers, herbs, vegetables, and an abundance of berries and fruit trees. An artist and gardener since childhood, Eve lovingly orchestrates a riot of color and abundance where ten foot lilies keep watch over asparagus fronds and cabbages share the same bed with roses and bronze fennel.

Our guests rave about their wonderful breakfasts where all the fresh picked goodies from the garden are combined with local eggs and other organic ingredients to create a delicious taste treat every day. Our guests go home dreaming about our breakfasts. As a Slow Food Bed and Breakfast, we are deeply committed to supporting family farms and serving food which is local, seasonal, and sustainably grown.

We offer a perfect balance for those who wish to retreat in a rural mountain setting and yet enjoy easy access to the restaurants and cultural offering of Asheville. We are so close to Asheville (20 minutes) and yet truly a world apart.

    Retreats

Everyone needs private time to reflect and draw on the inner resources that nurture and restore.  We encourage each individual's unique way of doing this.  The natural beauty of this place, the gardens, the organic foods all minister to body and spirit.

We also offer personal guided retreats, meeting with guests to help them clarify their intentions for themselves and supporting their own inner commitment to achieve those goals. We founded this place on following dreams and inner guidance, and we love encouraging it in others.

Guests can have a massage in the privacy of their room by an excellent licensed therapist.  For those interested in holistic therapies, this area is rich and diverse.  Call and let us help you plan your retreat time.

    Eve's Garden

When you arrive, you may find Eve barefoot, working her gardens. Her earliest childhood memories are in the garden, and gardening has been her lifelong passion.

This passion colors every part of the Hawk and Ivy. The flower borders soften the lines of the house. They hang over stone walls and spring up in the midst of the lettuces and asparagus. These same flowers may be sitting in an arrangement in your room or nestled in a bride’s bouquet. The perennial flower borders are constantly changing display from April though October. Everything Eve grows is organic. No pesticides, No chemical fertilizers. Just love.

Eve grows much of what we serve for breakfast. The kitchen gardens are extensive with every kind of berry in profusion, plus fruit trees, dozens of herbs, and both common and uncommon vegetables. There are asparagus and peppers for omelets, numerous varieties of potatoes-white, gold, purple, pink, and the most delicious heirloom tomatoes. Every imaginable seasonal vegetable is flavored with fresh herbs and adorned with edible flowers.

Breakfasts are fun and exciting with guests eagerly anticipating the next morning’s creations. Make a request. We offer delicious vegetarian, vegan, and low carb breakfasts

This is a wonderful place for an outdoor wedding. The 20 acres of wildflower meadow behind the houses form our own private valley with a long, high ridge affording 360-degree views of the mountains. Most couples choose to get married on this high ridge.
James is an ordained, non-denominational minister. He meets with couples to guide them in the process of designing a service that best expresses their commitment.

Halfway up toward the high meadow there is a beautiful oak barn that we have turned into a reception hall with large, covered decks on three sides.

Eve is a lifelong gardener and artist who became a floral designer. Her work is natural and romantic and always influenced by what she is growing in her gardens at any particular time. See her wedding bouquets.

We offer a place where you can celebrate your wedding with your loved ones for the entire weekend. We are here to help you to design the wedding experience that fits your dreams and desires. Your wedding should be a joyful, heart-felt, deeply spiritual love feast, marked by much laughter and dancing and healing of past hurts and tears of thanksgiving. We consider it an honor to be a part of such a wedding.

From November to March we host smaller weddings in front of the fireplace.

We welcome elopements and small ceremonies and recommitment ceremonies.
