Griffin Cottage
Griffin Cottage, our new carriage house, opened in the Spring of 2005. It has three deluxe suites, the William Morris and Rossetti on the ground floor and our magnificent, one of a kind, 1300 sq ft suite, the Cloisters, as the entire second floor. Griffin Cottage is located to the rear of the property, approximately 50' from the main Inn.
All suites are Pet Friendly with "doggy trundle beds" in the ground floor suites. The William Morris and Rossetti have private, enclosed back gardens, making them ideal for pets and for enjoying a private outdoor breakfast. The french doors open to the gardens, allowing your pet(s) to freely travel from inside the suite to the gardens, while the Cloisters is undoubtedly the most luxurious accommodation in Asheville, Western North Carolina and the Southern U.S. Children can be accommodated in the Cloisters, but please call us for details. So, relax, be pampered, and savor the seclusion of the suites of Griffin Cottage!Each suite has the following features:

The Cloisters
The Cloisters is our extraordinary, "one of a kind" 1300 sq ft second floor pet-friendly suite in our new carriage house, Griffin Cottage.
The 20' x 24' living room, with its hand-carved paneling imported from India, has a four person Inglenook fireplace, a very comfortable sofa and two comfortable side chairs. There is a 50" plasma HDTV with 6.1 surround sound and multi-format DVD player for excellent visual and sound reproduction. And, for corporate retreats, there is a 110" projection screen - ideal for your PowerPoint presentations! There are ceiling speakers in the Spa room, shower and bedroom to allow you to enjoy music throughout the Cloisters.
The living room has a butler's station complete with refrigerator, microwave, coffee/tea maker, glasses, plates and eating utensils. Ideal for spending your first evening having a meal in the suite.
The 14' x 17' Spa room has a two person whirlpool and fireplace. As one of our guests remarked after using the whirlpool, "this is the most sensual experience you can have legally!" There is a remote control to automatically tilt the blinds open and closed and a second to start the fireplace.
The spa room is ideally suited for singles or couples massages and massage services are available. We do have the services of one of the best massage therapists.
The large 6' x 8' shower has multiple jets, is thermostatically controlled, with a "rain shower" shower head; and there are two seats so that you can relax and enjoy your steam bath.
The bedroom has a king bed and there are bath robes for your use. We have just added a 40" LCD HDTV for watching DVDs. A three-zone heating/air conditioning system ensures you will be comfortable in each room of the suite.
We have recently enclosed the back garden, so your pets can freely move from the Cloisters to the garden.

The Rossetti Suite
The Rossetti Suite is the larger of our two ground floor suites in Griffin Cottage, our new carriage house to the rear of the main inn. The Rossetti is pet-friendly and ideally suited to pets as they can freely move between the suite and the outside.

The William Morris
The William Morris is the smaller of our two ground floor suites in Griffin Cottage, our new carriage house to the rear of the main inn. The William Morris is pet-friendly and ideally suited to pets as they can freely move between the suite and the outside.
The french doors open onto your private, enclosed garden making you feel you are taking a whirlpool bath outside!

The Thomas Wolfe Room
The Thomas Wolfe room, named after Asheville's famous author, is a very comfortable 19' x 19' room. It has a chest of drawers from the Island of Jersey circa mid-19th century and the Georgian-style wardrobe with mirrored doors houses the TV and refrigerator.

Zelda's Retreat
Our secluded 5-room suite offers the penultimate in secluded luxury. The entire third floor - 1,000 sq ft - is yours!
Relax by the fireplace or watch TV or a DVD in one of two sitting rooms. We have cable and satellite service. Read a book in the adjacent alcove. And, weather permitting, sit outside on your private balcony. You also have a private entrance.

The Fitzgerald has undergone a total renovation and is now, after 14 months, finished and ready for guests. Rediscover romance in your airbath tub with chromatherapy lights around you. Or, enjoy the envigorating walk-in shower with its four shower heads and fiber optic lighting above and below you!

Alexander's Cabin
Nestled between a rushing creek and a craggy mountain rise sits Alexander's Cabin on the Lower Flat Creek, the perfect vacation retreat for one or two couples or a family of five or less.
Located a short 14 minutes north of Asheville and 8 minutes from Weaverville and Marshall, Alexander's Cabin blends the serenity of the countryside with the luxuries guests have come to expect from the 1900 Inn on Montford.
Alexander's Cabin on the Lower Flat Creek is the perfect secluded getaway - there are no homes within view of the cabin. From the moment you step out of your car and hear the sound of the Creek, you'll realize you are in a very special place!

Prices are $175 per night (mid-week) and $250 for Friday and Saturday. October rates are $225 midweek and $300 per night for Friday/Saturday. Two night minimum stays are required except for holiday weekends, where three night minimum stays are required.
Rates are for two persons. There is a $25 per person per night charge for each additional person over 6 years old.
Pets are welcome. There is a one-time fee of $45 per pet.
Stay seven or more nights and the rate is only $200 per night (lower still for Jan-Mar)! There is a $75 one-time cleaning fee which will be added to your reservation amount. -
The 1900 Inn on Montford Policies
- Deposit and Cancellation Policy -
- Your room is guaranteed with a deposit for one night's accommodation or, for longer stays, one half the total reservation.
- Refunds will be made for cancellations 14 days prior to scheduled arrival. A fee of $25 per night will be charged.
- Early departures fall within our cancellation policy.
- The 1900 Inn on Montford reserves the right to treat a partial cancellation as a cancellation for the entire stay.
- For some holidays and October - a 30 day cancellation will apply.
- When making a reservation, please remember that you are making a commitment to us and we are making one to you.

- Method of Payment - American Express, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover are accepted. We accept Traveler's Checks, personal checks and even cash.
- Smoking - The interior of the Inn is strictly non-smoking. Smoking is permitted on the grounds, the balcony of Zelda's Retreat and the gardens of the suites of Griffin Cottage.
