  • Insider's Info

Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Patti Wiles for sharing her own secrets with BBOnline.com!
Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

Our inn is a smaller property providing a more private venue. This allows easy, less trafficked access to both the common areas and garden space. It also enhances personalized service to guests.

What are you best known for?

We are best known for our unique garden property and unparalleled customer service with easy access to downtown.

    What makes your inn unique?

Though we are a turn-of-the century property, stylistically we offer guest rooms catering to individual requirements. Whether the room choice would be the fresh, garden motif of our Garden Vista, the elegant romance of Natural Mystic or our upstairs room, Daydream- showcasing perfect natural light by skylights, angles and a very eclectic feel- We offer full diversity in casual elegance.

What do you love most about your inn?

We love the warmth of the home. Though we are a historic property and elegantly decorated, the cozy welcoming feeling our home offers its occupants is immediately noted by our guests.

If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

The reasons are a varied as the guests we receive because, it is the "guest centered experience" we concentrate our efforts on. Without question, the natural beauty of Western North Carolina is a big draw. However, for the artistic among our guests, our huge art community is like honey to the bears-Oh, and we have those too... bears that is. Art is Asheville by definition. From canvas to glass, animal fibers to silk, the creativity of our mountain region is well known and coveted.

What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

Best compliment? The guest that shares that they felt completely at home and were as relaxed in our environment as if they were at home-only better because we attend to everything.

What’s the best kept secret about the area?

Sometimes guests are very concerned about having money to do things in Asheville as though we are an amusement park and their tickets to rides might run out. I am always happy to allay their fears by asking, "Do you own a good, sturdy pair of tennis shoes?" If they do, and they most always do, we can send them to places that will live in their imagination long after their trip has come to a conclusion. It is the magic of Asheville-Always all its own-always changing and ever astonishingly beautiful.

If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

For guests staying more than a couple of days we recommend a drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway. Depending on the season of their visit, a family farm tour-guests can have a front row seat to Asheville’s real commitment to farm to table and sustainable local agriculture, classes at Penland Art School-offering beginning skills in everything from jewelry creation to iron working. Hot air ballooning excursions offer visitors an aerial view of some of the most beautiful territory in the continental U.S. Biltmore Estate-Vanderbilt was a pioneer in sustainable living and forestry preservation. (Christmas Candlelight, if in season).

Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

Certainly! Our historic, neighborhood Montford cemetery with the literary genius of both Thomas Wolfe and O'Henry in residence, downtown Asheville with its edgy art, music by perambulating street buskers dot the downtown and the famous farm to table innovative cuisine for which we are rapidly gaining notoriety.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

We love Limones which offers a mix of Mexican and Californian cuisine.

Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?

Brown Dog for hiking adventures-experience and fun co-mingle quite effectively with this group. Our Asheville chamber of commerce revels in having their fingers on the pulse of our town making www.exploreasheville.com always a good one stop shop for the visitors.

How many rooms does your inn have?

We have 5 rooms with one acting as larger suite occupying the top floor.

    Do you accept pets?

    We do not accept pets.
