  • Introduction

Wing's Castle - Millbrook, New YorkCome to Wing's Castle!

"Wings Castle has been on several TV shows, used in ads of all types, movies, documentaries, rock videos etc. It was built by Peter and Toni Wing over a 44 year period thus far. It has 85% repurposed or recycled materials from every type of building you can name. It’s one of the very first “green buildings“.  We attract tourists from around the world: Moscow...Beijing...  and all places in between. We have had Shakespearean performances in front of the Castle at night, drawing many famous show people and have grown a reputation in the art community for it’s over the top productions. Google images for more. Now a B&B, stay in a true Castle without having to leave the States." - Peter Wing, castle builder.

Here you'll get the best of everything, guided tours and Bed and Breakfast accommodations. A cozy intimate Bed and Breakfast just opened May 1st, 2011. Sink your head into a feather pillow and let your cares float away, to enchanted lands beneath the old timbers of the castle roofs.

Wing's Castle is an American marvel. Located 75 miles north of New York City, the castle was the brain child of artists Peter and Toni Ann Wing. Wing was raised on a dairy farm adjacent to where the castle now sits, the Millbrook Winery has become what was once the Wing Farm.

Wing returned from Vietnam in 1969, proposed to Toni Ann and in 1970 the long illustrious love affair of building a castle began. This enigma is still, to this day, 40 years later, under construction...as Toni states, it has become a "live in art project". Along with a love affair of castles came a love of anything old. Come for a visit and be memorized by the museum of antique memorabilia and collectibles, everything from military to primitive trinkets.

The house has been featured on Extreme Homes, HGTV, prime time television, and been the backdrop of many music albums, movies, and fashion shoots. Wings architecture has been compared to that of Antonio Gaudi, and his life's work to that of Michelangelo, a true renaissance man. Catch him on the right day and you will see him still out working, or maybe he will even guide you through the house himself. Either way you are sure to be entertained. Come see for yourself and hear the rest of the story about how the idea of a castle became a home and it was all accomplished using 80% recycled materials!

After your tour head down to the Milbrook Winery, a hop skip and a jump from the castle. Then jump in your car and head to the cute village of Millbrook where you can enjoy a quiet lunch or dinner at one of the towns many great restaurants! After lunch enjoy a stroll through Millbrook Antiques Mall "MAM", the storefront where Pete and Toni sell some of their collections. And if you keep a close eye you will see wood carvings, such as cigar store indians and other wood sculptures, Peter has carved for local proprietors!

Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Peter Wing for sharing his own secrets with BBOnline.com!
Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

    We are a Castle.

What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?

You are left alone; it is very peaceful and quiet. What we like most about the Wings Castle B&B is that we built it ourselves over a 44 year period.

If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

To get away from it all, stay in a real castle without going to Europe, and touring the mid-Hudson region.

What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

Just overwhelming responses to the artwork that surrounds the guests while they’re here.

What’s the best kept secret about the area?

The best kept secret is probably Wings Castle itself and we are within walking distance of one of New York’s most prestigious wineries.

If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

Antiquing, horse events, sporting clay events and others at Orvis, about 8-5 star restaurants within minutes of Wings Castle.

Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

The famous Millbrook Winery and Vineyards, and there is also biking.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

There are very many 5 star restaurants to pick from; some excellent and very affordable.

Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?

    www.wingscastle.com

How many rooms does your inn have?

2 rooms in Wings Castle proper and 3 rooms in the Fairy-Tale Cottage right across the street.

    Do you accept pets?

We do not accept pets and I cannot recommend anything. That would be solely at the customer’s discretion.
