Named for its splendid wrought-iron bed forged by a master artisan in the Italian Riviera town of Chiavari, this room is fresh and airy-feeling, due to floods of morning light and a decorative pastel palate of soft yellow, aqua, and coral. The bed itself is a striking Montecatini green, the traditional color for children's beds in and around Genoa, and handpainted wild flowers fill its medallions. The floral theme is continued in a majolica inset on one of the hand-made lamps and in a 1940s needlepointed wool rug. The chest of drawers is Louis XV, while the bergère chair and ottoman are reproductions that will be favored by readers. The en suite bathroom has a glassed-in shower and a window looking into distant trees.
Gold and red are the classic baroque colors, reflected in this room's walls and elegant Frette bed linens. The c. 1740-1750 Venetian bed and console make this a room like no other in the Hudson Valley. The gold-leaf is carried over into its lamps and custom-made bedside tables, while a long, cushioned windowseat provides a place to settle in with a book or backgammon. Bookshelves and velvet curtains help create a particularly private environment. The en suite bathroom features a commodious shower with built-in tiled bench.
This, our only twin-bedded room, is named for a colorful Ligurian fishing village depicted in the painting that hangs above the room's handsome chest of drawers. The chest is Louis XIV; the extra-long beds, with high head- and footboards, are late 19th. Tones of burgundy and rich brown in the settee and Turkish rug are set off against leaf-green walls, which echo the lush gardens overlooked by one of the windows. The room's spacious bathroom, with a full bath / shower and ample cabinets, is immediately next door, and entirely private.
Luigi Filippo Room
Well-lit by three silk-shaded windows, the room's pumpkin walls and walnut antiques imbue the former master bedroom with a genuine glow. The bed and night tables are Louis-Philippe, and the large chest of drawers is late 17th century. An alcove contains a writing table and chair with handwoven silk upholstery. Fortuny lampshades, an antique Kilim, modern paintings, and a comfortable settee nearly complete the picture. The room and its en suite bathroom overlook the perennial garden and lawn beyond.

Millbrook Country House is intended as a tranquil retreat, encouraging genuine relaxation. Consequently we have no televisions in guest bedrooms. We do, however, have a small television in our office/library, which we can occasionally make available for guests’ viewing.
MCH offers wireless internet service for guests who have brought their own laptops.
Check-in begins at 3pm; check-out ends at noon.
Children and Pets: In order to assure a relaxing environment for all our guests, and in consideration of our antique furnishings, MCH regretfully does not generally accept young children (inquire for exceptions) or pets. We have, however, our own delightful cats—Piccolo, Poppy, and the timid Charlotte—who will lend their special charms to your stay if you are an animal-lover and seek them out.
As we are a small business, cancellations (especially last-minute ones) affect us greatly, and so considerable care has gone into creating a policy that is fair to all. When a booking is cancelled in a timely fashion, i.e., 14 days or more prior to the planned arrival, you may choose either to receive a refund of the deposit, minus a $50 booking fee per room, or to apply the entire amount to a future stay. If cancellation occurs fewer than 14 days prior to the planned arrival, the deposit is forfeited unless we are able to re-rent the room(s), in which case the policy for timely cancellation applies. Should an early departure be necessary, amounts due will nevertheless reflect the original booking. Please note: For holidays or high-demand special events such as graduations, parents’ weekends, and horse trials, the timely cancellation period is 30 days, rather than 14. When all four rooms are reserved together (for weddings, parties, etc.), the deposit is non-refundable.
Millbrook Country House is a non-smoking premises.
We also request that food and drink not be consumed in the bedrooms, but rather in the parlors, dining room, or (when weather permits) the gardens.
Guests' wines or foodstuffs purchased at Millbrook's green market, for example, can be kept chilled on request until needed.
