Friends Lake Inn has a long tradition of gracious hospitality and you'll find all the comforts you long for. Spacious rooms or suites, decorated with romantic simplicity. Featherbeds and pillows, Jacuzzis for a deep relaxing soak. Accommodating service. All rooms are equipped with telephones, several with data ports. All of the best of Friends, for all our friends. The 17-room refurbished inn provides luxury guest rooms, each individually decorated. Suites are also available. All have private baths. Most rooms have lakeviews, fireplaces, steam showers, wetbar and/or Jacuzzis. Beds are fluffed with featherbeds, duvets and lots of pillows. The Guest Common room has a fireplace, offering a relaxing atmosphere after a day of outdoor activity.

Murphy's Friends Lake Inn" was built in the 1860' as an Inn to accommodate the Tanners working in the major industry of early Chestertown. The Inn has been completely restored to its original beauty and quiet elegance providing a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere for individuals and couples.

Dining
Our regionally acclaimed dining room captures the ambiance of the 19th century while specializing in sophisticated contemporary cuisine and service. Guests enjoy imaginative New-American Cuisine emphasizing classic techniques with new-world bold ingredients. The Inn showcases regional products emphasizing flavor and freshness. Friends Lake Inn welcomes weddings, and seminars, retreats, and luncheons up to 350 people. The Restaurant is a DiRoNa award-wining property since 1997.

Wine
Our wine collection has been awarded a "Grand Award' from the Wine Spectator and provides both connoisseur and novice with in-depth, value-oriented choices to complement any meal. The cellar features over 21,000 bottles and 1,500 selections. the Inn offers monthly wine tasting dinners. There is a private dining room that accommodates up to 14 wine enthusiasts for a very special dining experience.

Bar & Bristo
An intimate comfortable atmosphere of sunshine, oak woodwork, and leather couches is ideal for socializing with new and old friends. A light menu is offered.

You can enjoy any of a number of outdoor activities during your stay at Friends Lake Inn in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. Skiing, boating, biking, fishing, swimming, hiking, shopping or just relaxing are all possible at Friends Lake.
Golf Courses  within 30 miles of the Inn include: Green Mansions, Cronin's, The Sagamore, 1000 Acres, Wakely,  Cedar River,  Hiland Park, Top of the World, Lake George Country Club.
Water Sports
You can enjoy boating, fishing, kayaking, river rafting, and many other water sports on the lakes and parks in the Adirondacks.  Complimentary canoes and  kayaks  are available at the Inn for use on Friends Lake. 
Hiking and Biking
Enjoy an unlimited choice of beautiful scenic Adirondack trails for biking or hiking.   Ranging from area Mountains to our very own  32 km of hiking trails located right in our backyard.                                         
Friends Lake Inn Snowshoe Center Cross-Country Trails
This winter enjoy the old world romance of cross-country skiing or snowshoeing at Friends Lake Inn. Our 32 km of private  trails and unlimited wilderness skiing offer a variety of Nordic ski experiences from challenging expert trail "Cardiac Hill" to the quieter pace of "Hemlock Hall". Our snowshoe trails offer the opportunity to explore pristine Adirondack terrain. After a day of skiing relax in our Sauna, enjoy candlelight fireside dining and gracious accommodations. 32 km of private  wooded ski trails. Ski and snowshoe rentals, Multiple levels of terrain to offer skiers a variety of experiences, Unlimited Wilderness Skiing,  snowshoe trails, and Nordic Center . Instructions available.  Private snowshoe and cross country skiing lessons are  available by appointment for $25.00 per hour, please call to reserve a time.  Open daily from 8 am to 5 pm
Downhill Skiing at Gore Mountain
Take advantage of our Mid-Week Ski Getaway in the Adirondack Mountains. Gore is just fifteen minutes away.
Tennis Anyone?
Green Mansions Tennis Courts, five clay and Har-Tru courts, are open to the public for a nominal fee of $8 per hour. Green Mansions is a 5-minute drive from the Inn. There are two brand new courts at the new Chestertown High School just 3 miles away.
Our Pool
A heated swimming pool is available on the premises for your enjoyment. (pool is open mid-June-early September)

Friends Lake Inn is a short 20-minute drive north of Lake George.

From the south: Take I-87, "the Northway", to Exit 25. Take left onto Rt.8 west. travel 3.5 miles on Rt.8 west and make a left onto Friends Lake Road. Bear right at the fork, then make your next right (the continuation of Friends Lake Road) and continue 8/10ths of a mile to Friends Lake Inn on the right.
