Dining room"We have been coming to this Inn since the early 80's when it was known as the Inn at Hobnobbin Farms. Now there are new owners, Louis and Sam. They have made us feel very welcome and cannot do enough for us. To them I offer a short line from Neil Young "Long may you run". To all who read this, enjoy this special place!"
Charles W. - North Tonawanda NY

The highly acclaimed and popular Great Tree Inn is conveniently located to many of the region's attractions, including the Chautauqua Institution, Chautauqua Lake, local antique shopping, wineries, restaurants as well as abundant outdoor recreation. The Inn is a converted and recently upgraded 1820 farmhouse and barn guarded by an ancient black locust tree. Each of the guest rooms features modern conveniences such as flat-panel TVs, fireplaces, full private baths and air conditioning whilst retaining old world ambiance with elegant country furnishings and decor. Guests enthuse about the hospitality, breakfasts and culinary dining experiences.

Open year-round, refresh your spirits in the shade of the flowered pergolas or relax in the warmth of the fireplaces in the bedrooms or living areas. Fireside and candlelight dining is available in the "Out of Africa" Le Indaba dining-room. The Inn provides direct access to scenic trails that offer excellent hiking, biking and horse-riding in the warmer months and snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and sleigh-rides in the winter.

Dinner, Bed and Breakfast at the Great Tree Inn

During Fall, Winter and Spring, the Great Tree Inn now offers a European-type weekend dinner, bed and breakfast package that includes a Saturday evening three-course pre-select dinner.

Included are some our personal favorite dishes stemming back to the time we spent in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the lower Caribbean and that were voted as 'favorites' by those who spent time with us as guests on our yachts.

The dinner menu which is posted one week in advance, features Samantha's choice for the day and includes a salad, specialty bread, a hearty entree, dessert, tea and coffee.

The convenience factor, not to mention not having to be concerned about "drinking and driving", has been reaffirmed by our guests who have been highly complimentary of this, our latest endeavor.

An added value is that there are no corkage charges (you bring your own) and no restaurant gratuity. Compounded savings that further justify your 'getaway'.

Louis and SamYour hosts at the Great Tree Inn - Louis and Sam

Louis was introduced to the hospitality business when he and a partner founded the Breakaway Adventure Club in Southern Africa. Then after leaving Africa in the early 90's, Louis and Samantha were involved in the yacht charter industry for many years, operating their sailing and motoryachts in the Caribbean islands.

This exposure to a diversity of people, from almost all walks of life, fed their passion for hospitality and catering, and a desire to exceed the expectations of their guests.

With the acquisition of the Inn, they have been applying the same principles to this latest chapter of their lives, only this time on firmer ground! Their motto then, and now . . . "exceeding expectations".

Nothing comes more naturally to them than taking care of their guests. You will not only enjoy Sam's reputation for making you feel welcome, but given that she is the chef in the family, also the dining "experiences" in the Great Tree Inn's in-house restaurant, Le Indaba (reserved for Inn residents only).

"We look forward to not only welcoming you into our Inn and home, but also to welcoming good friends, both new and old".
