Placitas is just a 20-minute drive south of downtown Albuquerque. The Fourth of July is particularly special here, starting with an old-fashioned parade and concluding with a big fireworks display. A Placitas bed and breakfast can make your stay more comfortable and bring you into the center of the annual activities. The rodeo is held in August, and on Labor Day weekend the crowds appear for the Bernalillo Wine Festival, which celebrates New Mexico's long heritage of wine-making. In autumn, the Placitas Home Tour opens the doors of many unique homes to the public. Builders work all year to prepare the houses for the show and attendees can expect to see some of the most beautiful homes in New Mexico. Take the family to an afternoon show at the popular Sunday afternoon Placitas Artists Series concerts that run most of the year. Both Placitas and Bernalillo have art fairs as well, which draw people from all over the state. Near Placitas you can find restaurants like the Range Cafe and the new Milagro Grill with its mountain views and outdoor tables. For more elegant dining, there are restaurants like the Prairie Star and the Corn Maiden, adjoined to the championship golf course on the Santa Ana Pueblo. All of the fine Placitas bed and breakfasts and Placitas inns feature the typical amenities that B&B lovers have come to expect.
