The Freeman Room

$119.00 / $139.00 night

This beautiful Victorian room of our bed and breakfast in Albuquerque, New Mexico pays tribute to Margaret Freeman, the owner of what is now Spy House from the 1940s until she passed away in 2001, in her 90s. She and her husband were the owners of the house when the Greenglasses came to rent one of the upstairs apartments. It was said that she always loved telling stories of the event that made this house famous.

The hand-painted diamonds on the walls are made to look like a replication of antique wallpaper. The rose border at the top of the picture rail was lovingly hand painted by Kara's mother and is made to match the roses in the bedspread. The bathroom has an antique claw-foot tub in it where you can have a soak or enjoy the shower. The 1800s washstand has been converted to have an actual working sink in it. You will feel as though you have stepped into true Victorian elegance in this room.

The Greenglass Room

$119.00 / $139.00 night

The Greenglass Room of our bed and breakfast in Albuquerque, New Mexico is named after David Greenglass, the brother of Ethel Rosenberg, and the individual who has played a part in making this house known as "The Spy House." He and his wife Ruth called this home for over a year in the 40s.

This room is done in a sunny yellow and has a hand-painted border of blue vines winding all around the picture rail. The sitting room to the side was actually used as a kitchen when the house was turned into apartments in the 40s. It still has all of the original cabinets and sink. The counter was replaced with a blue hexagon tile, but everything else is the same. You can use it either as a small study or additional sink area to get ready for your day. All that is missing in this space is the small four-burner stove and refrigerator. The private bathroom with the original large clawfoot tub is across the hall. The blue and white porcelain mosaic tile is new, but it is meant to look original. You will enjoy a long soak in this tub or it can be used as a shower. This is the original bathroom David and his wife, Ruth, used when they were living in their apartment. The tables in the room are also said to be the original tables that David and Ruth used when they were living here. In fact, the one that holds the TV is the table Margaret Freeman said was used by David when he drew up the portion of the atomic bomb that he sold to the Soviet spy, Harry Gold. When you stay in this room, you will enjoy the rich history of a time past.

The Rosenberg Room

$119.00 / $139.00 night

The infamous Julius and Ethel Rosenburg, who were executed in the 50s, are the inspiration for the name given to to The Rosenberg Room of the Spy House bed and breakfast in Albuquerque, New Mexico. David Greenglass, tenant of the house during the 40s, was the brother of Ethel Rosenburg and one of the engineers working on the atomic bomb in Los Alamos. Due to the events that happened in this house and it being called the Spy House, it only seemed fitting to name a room after them.

The room has a row of windows that overlook the front of the house, giving you some of the best morning light. It is in two tones of rich burgundy with accents of gold in the trim and a beautiful gold silk bedspread. Any couple will enjoy this room with the spacious bathroom complete with double sinks and a large walk-in shower. There is also a quaint and private study just off the bedroom.
