Whistling Swan Inn

Built in 1905 by the Justice of the Peace and a founding family of Stanhope, The Whistling Swan Inn is a Queen Anne Victorian home restored to its original splendor and turned into a bed and breakfast inn in 1985. Since that time it has has three major renovation segments. Today, it has 9 individually decorated guest rooms with well appointed, modern conveniences for the mid-week business guest and exquisite luxury for the leisure guest.

Known for its comfort and hospitality, the inn is conveniently located near several corporate centers. The small rural town of Stanhope is perfectly located for those seeking rest, relaxation and rejuvenation. Year-round activities include: museums, restaurants, antiquing, hiking, horseback riding, minor league baseball, skiing, ice fishing, many winter sports, outlet shopping, beautiful drives in northwestern New Jersey and much, much more.

Located 45 miles west of New York City and 1 mile north of Interstate 80 just off of Route 206, we are centrally located and have access to public transportation.

A full hot country buffet breakfast is served in our elegant dining room and includes: two entrees, fruit, cereal, toast, juice and hot coffee or tea and a variety of homemade sweetbreads. In the warm weather, enjoy that second cup of coffee on the veranda. For the business guest with an early meeting, we can even fix breakfast to go.

Innside Breakfast at the Whistling Swan Inn is a collection of breakfast and tea recipes served at the Whistling Swan Inn.

The recipes are easy to prepare, yet elegant enough to delight even your most discriminating brunch guests. 

The cookbook contains more than 100 recipes, including: spinach cheddar quiche, cranberry bog French toast (a big hit at Thanksgiving), confetti eggs and other breakfast and brunch favorites.

Tea time, a ritual conceived in Victorian England, is still enjoyed at the Whistling Swan. The cookbook also includes recipes for favorate delectables such as: cream scones, English trifle and lemon curd.
