Welcome to the Spring Lake Inn, where European-style hospitality, history and contemporary amenities blend together for an unforgettable vacation experience. We've been told that our inn is unpretentious, yet elegant, inviting, yet private for those guests who need time and space to unwind. Built in 1888 as the Grand Central Stables of Spring Lake NJ, the inn is only a block from the ocean and the 2-mile boardwalk. We serve sumptuous breakfasts in the grand dining room as well as afternoon tea. Our 80 ft. Victorian porch is irresistible. Each of the 16 spacious guestrooms and suites offers all or a combination of the following luxury features: fireplace, ocean view, Jacuzzi, 4-poster bed, sleigh bed, refrigerator and digital cable TV. Fine dining, boutique shopping and spa pampering are only blocks away. Spring Lake New Jersey is one of America's most genteel seashore towns where time can stand still at our "European Mansion by the Sea." ~ Barbara and Andy Seaman
The Spring Lake Inn (circa 1888) was erected by Timothy Hurley as Timothy Hurley's Grand Central Stables Carriage House, a stagecoach stop with hotel rooms on the top floors for the coachmen. In 1975, Pat Giblin and Fran Allison purchased and renovated the hotel. During their ownership, they rented out the kitchen and dining room to proprietors who ran a restaurant separate from the hotel. By 1982, the Spring Lake Hotel, Inc. purchased the restaurant under the management of Stanley Klos. His purpose was to combine Spring Lake's charm with business and academia. The next owners in 1986 were Linda and Bill Polsney who added a new porch and private bathrooms for the 15 guest rooms.
The Spring Lake Inn moved twice during its evolution. The Wolverton map of 1889 shows the original building constructed on Atlantic Avenue in the name of Maltby.
The 1890 Sanborne map shows the building in the name of Tim Hurley Carriage House and Livery then located on Third and Salem.
The 1905 Sanborne map shows the building as Tim Hurley's Carriage House, Livery, Trucking, and Shed; shortly after, it moved to 104 Salem Avenue.
In 1982, the Spring Lake Inn offered lodging to guests at $50/week. Additionally, the restaurant was open for dining events for up to 50 guests.

One of the things that makes Spring Lake NJ unique is the wealth of gorgeous, turn-of-the-century (that’s the 20th century) homes, and two miles of pristine beaches. You could spend a day just walking through the area learning about the history of Spring Lake and enjoying the view. While you’re out, you should drop by the Spring Lake Historical Society museum at the corner of Warren and Fifth, on the top floor of Spring Lake’s Borough Hall, built in 1897. The space the museum makes its home is unusually elaborate, and served as a Masonic meeting room in the 1950’s. This gives the museum itself an intimate, ornate quality, rich in architectural details.
Bring along your golf clubs as there are a number of local courses, each offering its own unique challenges. The closest course to our Inn is the Spring Lake Golf Club which offers two different courses, Thunderbird, which is 18 holes, and Sandpiper, which is 9 holes. The Spring Lake Golf Club Academy has one of the best practice facilities in the area, featuring a grass driving range with target greens, as well as two large practice greens. They even offer one on one instruction. The Bel Aire and Spring Meadows courses are also very close by. Bel Aire is 9 holes and perfect for some post-breakfast exercise, while Spring Meadows is 18 and usually requires guests reserve tee times 7 days in advance.
If tennis is more your style, bring your racket and head to nearby Divine Park, across the street from the Third Avenue shopping district. It has two courts hiding among the ancient sycamore trees. You can also enjoy the trail that surrounds Spring Lake New Jersey and all the beautiful views it provides. Fishing is permitted at the lake and is stocked each spring with several species of game fish. You can also surf fish along the beach.
Historic and Seaside Parks
Spring Lake is a unique seaside town, offering visitors a break from the hustle and bustle of their day to day life. Here you can enjoy 2 miles of picturesque beaches along with the longest non-commercial boardwalk in the state. There are a number of beautiful and historic parks near our Bed and Breakfast in Spring Lake NJ that are perfect for spending time outside with family and friends. Divine Park surrounds Spring Lake, which is actually spring-fed, and is a gorgeous place to spend a sunny day. The path around the lake offers beautiful views of the lake as well as the native birds and fish. The wooden bridges in Divine Park are frequent sites for wedding pictures.
Just south of the town of Seaside Park lies one of the natural treasures of The Jersey Shore, Island Beach State Park. This park makes its home on nine miles of natural barrier island and features some of the most breathtaking scenery in the state. With its goldenrod-covered sand dunes, bay-side wetlands, beach plum, and black cherry, Island Beach State Park is a breath of fresh air for those hoping to escape the overdeveloped areas of the shore.
Allaire State Park New Jersey is about a 20 minute drive from Spring Lake, and is perhaps best known for it’s historic, restored, 19th century iron making town, Allaire Village and it’s antique steam trains on the Pine Creek Railroad. The Manasquan River winds through the park offering a habitat for more than 200 species of wildflowers and other trees and plants, as well as native wildlife. The diversity of the wildlife and natural beauty of the park draw canoeists, fisherman, hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders from all over to enjoy the numerous trails in the park. Not far away, the Manasquan Reservoir offers a variety of outdoor activities for everyone, and even offers canoe and paddle boat rentals.
If you’re looking for something romantic, take a cruise through the inland waters of the local rivers or Barnegat Bay. The River Belle and River Queen are Mississippi river boat replicas offering sightseeing, dining, and dancing in style on the water. You can even go on murder mystery cruises and special New Years Eve cruises. It’s a popular attraction, so it’s always a good idea to make reservations.

The Spring Lake Community Theatre opened in 1978 and has been offering year round entertainment for residents and visitors to Spring Lake ever since. Over the years the theatre has featured numerous Broadway quality musicals, comedies, and dramas. The professional cast offers six different shows each season, and the proceeds from opening night ticket sales for each performance is donated to a different area charity.
