The Sussex
The Sussex is situated on the front of the Inn, giving you a wonderful view of the wildflower garden planted directly across from the Inn. Settle into the overstuffed armchair in front of the double windows, tilt the plantation shutters just so for perfect lighting, and relax with a book, tucking the silk and cotton throw around your legs. Revel in the extra jets in the immaculate full-body shower spa, relaxing on the built-in bench seat; await the indulgence of the breakfast soon to come. Rest comfortably in the queen-size bed, luxuriating in the designer down comforter and soft Egyptian cotton sheets.
Let your mind wander back in time as you examine the 1843 lithograph of Henry Clay by E.L. Henry. Feel free to lounge outside your room in the inviting wing chairs situated at the top of the magnificent oak staircase. The daily newspaper is placed on the marble top table underneath the window overlooking the banks of the Raritan River.
The Morris
The Morris boasts expansive views to the rear and side of the property, with long sightlines to the distant hills of Morris county and the trees bordering the excellent trout-stocked river. Look out the window to see the Swackhamer wind sculpture in our central rock garden. This was donated to the Inn by descendants of the original owner of the house. Watch for any length of time towards dusk and see the deer and her fawns appear at the edge of the fields. Sightings of beaver and mink have been noted by our millrace. The queen-size bed and large armoire are antiqued white wood; the luxurious blue and cream colored down comforter and blankets are by Ralph Lauren. Relax in the overstuffed chair in the bay window reading alcove with the Waterford lamp on the antique table. Reach for a fluffy Inn robe when you step out of the full-body spray shower with a bench for added comfort and luxury.
The Hunterdon
The Hunterdon overlooks our 1880's restored barn, the mill race which was once used to provide water power to a peach basket factory, and the distant hills of Hunterdon county. Ask our Innkeeper to give you a peek upstairs to the attic with its two-story high turret. Feel free to unpack your belongings into the mahogany armoire. Enjoy the oil painting by locally renowned artist Dan Mulligan. Be sure to find his other artwork around the Inn. Relax in the upholstered chair beside the window and watch for deer in the field, or perhaps a lone fisherman heading to the famous trout stream. Sleep beneath our luxurious Ralph Lauren non-allergenic down duvet cover; pull up the soft sheets and blankets and relax until the delicious smells of breakfast awaken you.
The Somerset
The Somerset, a cozy comfortable room faces our vintage 1880s barn restored to its past grandeur. Make time during your visit to see the handmade stained glass panels that surround the barn cupola. Sink into the chair by the window and be ready to catch a glimpse of a wood duck with her ducklings heading for the calm waters of the millrace. Let your eyes wander to the Norwegian watercolors, showing the beauty of the towns of Hisoy and Arendal in the 1930s. Enjoy the luxurious Ralph Lauren non-allergenic down comforter and its rich navy and maroon colors. Sleep in comfort on the antique rope bed with a most modern pillow-top double mattress supporting you. Luxuriate in the oversized private bath with full-body sprays and a sitting bench for the ultimate in relaxation.
The Warren
Open the door to the Warren and be overwhelmed by the experience awaiting you. Take in the recessed sitting area surrounded by windows, offering a chaise lounge with silk throw for the ultimate in relaxation. An enormous private bath with large spa tub and separate shower await you; pull shut the original pocket doors and be enveloped by the sensation of decadence. Feel the pull of history as you gaze at the hand-painted wedding photos from the 1800s displayed around the room. Appreciate the skills that are evident in the construction of the Civil War vintage furniture and the Empire mirror in the room. Enjoy the expansive views of the Raritan River; you may catch sight of a fisherman in search of the native brook and brown trout, or the heavily stocked rainbows.
