Three Maples Bed & Breakfast
-

One Sunday morning, after a hearty country breakfast, our guests George and Nancy went for a final stroll up Mountain Road. Back at the house they put their bags into their car, took one last look around and said, "You've really got a quiet little paradise here, you know."
And that's what we had thought when we found this 1790 country home. We bought it there and then. A year later, after considerable renovation, we opened our Bed & Breakfast, naming it after the three century-old sugar maples that front the road and frame our sign.
History has recorded the house at different times as a general store (1795), a cobbler's home and shop (1830), a blacksmith's home (1875), a gentlewoman's farm (1900), a small inn (1950), and always a welcoming home. Now as a comfortable country Bed & Breakfast, Three Maples will welcome you.
We sit on five acres, high up the west shoulder of Temple Mountain, at the edge of several hundred acres of protected forest lands. Though clearly in the country, we are but four miles from the classic and charming New England town of Peterborough, the model for Thornton Wilder's famous play, "Our Town," and only an hour and a half from Boston.
There's always something to do when you stay at Three Maples. Spend an afternoon by the frog pond with that book you've been meaning to read, journey into Peterborough for the arts scene and great shopping, find and cut the perfect Christmas tree, enjoy first class music and theater. It's all here.WHY THREE MAPLES?
We combine the best of two worlds -- a peaceful country setting with gardens, a frog pond, and acres of woodlands only four miles from the bustle of Peterborough.

Breakfast at Three Maples is a leisurely affair served by candlelight at the common table. You'll start with fresh fruit and juice, a basket of homemade pecan sticky-buns or scones, and on to a tempting entree.Last month our guests were offered roasted asparagus omelets, homemade sausage, maple walnut stuffed french toast, and a mouth-watering bacon-egg-cheese tart with Three Maples potatoes. Next month could bring a surprise or two.
And we like to serve afternoon tea with homemade treats whenever we can. How about in front of the fireplace after a walk up Mountain Road amidst fall colors?
