The Follansbee Inn is an authentic 1840 New England bed & breakfast, with eighteen individually furnished guest rooms, all with private bath, at a uniquely beautiful location on the south shore of Kezar Lake, one of New Hampshire's small lakes. Our inn is located in the country, in a natural, unspoiled setting. We cater to adults and older children who wish to have an active, natural and environmentally friendly vacation.

You will have a great day with our lovely lake and comfortable rooms. A host of nearby activities will beckon you just outside our doors, but not until you enjoy breakfast in our spacious dining area. Use one of our bikes (we even have a tandem), boats, or snowshoes to explore the area, or just tie on your shoes for a great hike. Relax at our lakefront, and walk to the general store for a snack or afternoon sandwich.

Our Lakefront Dock is a favorite not just for paddling a canoe, a kayak, or using the rowboat to tour the lake where wildlife abounds. The dock is the beginning of adventure. It's where timeouts can mean devouring your favorite book, dreaming in a hammock, or sharing a conversation while relaxing by the lake.

At evening's end, sweet dreams and peaceful sleep await you in one of our guestrooms. Overhead fans and windows opening to lake breezes allow you to fully relax. In winter, cozy up with one of our down comforters or beautiful quilts.

Awake to the smells of a hearty country breakfast served in our dining room overlooking the lake. Dine at a cozy table for two, or join others, your choice! Start with homemade granola, a choice of juices and fresh coffee or tea. Then, in the style of classic bed & breakfasts, enjoy being served the breakfast of the day, like Creme Brule French toast or perhaps classic eggs benedict. If you are a vegetarian, please let us know and we will happily accommodate you!

Our lake frontage offers a pier with kayaks, canoe, row boat and a paddle boat. There's a floater within a short swim of the pier. Tall pine trees shade the shore line, and there are open spaces for sunbathing and lounging. A picnic bench and a hammock make comfortable places to enjoy the tranquility of the lake. Kezar Lake is a perfect size for quiet boating and fishing, too. If you would like a little privacy, row out to the secluded island for a picnic. The three mile walk around the lake is a perfect distance for easy exercise or for a quick jog, any season of the year.

A Four Season Destination Location

Within a few miles of the Follansbee--historical and natural sites abound, as well as repertory theatre, museums, art, and concert events in the nearby towns of New London, Sunapee, Hanover, Newport and Concord. Summer or spring adventure is waiting for you. Bike, boat or hike, then sip a cool drink, and watch a beautiful sunset. Fall is the time to bring your camera and take some spectacular pictures of fall foliage. The panoramic view is superb.

Winter could mean snuggling up to a flickering, log fire in one of our cozy dens, with beer or wine from our service bar--or you can schedule time for downhill or cross-country skiing. Snowshoe right from our front door. Mt. Sunapee is a short drive. Ski & Stay packages are available for our winter guests.

The Sunapee/New London area is just 95 miles from the bustle of downtown Boston.
