On a knoll overlooking the scenic Connecticut River and the hills of Vermont, Breakfast on the Connecticut sits on 23 very private acres in rural Lyme, NH, just minutes from Hanover and Dartmouth College. Breakfast On The Connecticut provides a peaceful New England bed and breakfast getaway for Dartmouth parents & alumni, vacationers, business retreats and group events. Its proximity to many summer camps in the Upper Valley Region of New Hampshire and Vermont makes it the ideal spot for visiting parents and families. This elegant New England bed and breakfast is available for bridal/baby showers, rehearsal dinners, and smaller business retreats, weddings and family reunions.

While our own property offers ample opportunity for canoeing, kayaking, fishing or biking, we are also close to golf, horseback riding, both downhill and cross country skiing, snowmobiling and major recreational areas located in both New Hampshire and Vermont. Minutes from the Appalachian Trail and an easy drive to the White Mountains, we are ideally located for those who like to spend a day hiking, mountain climbing, bird watching or sightseeing. And of course, the country roads are dotted with fabled New England craft and antique galleries to explore. No matter what you choose to do, you will enjoy returning to our modern New Hampshire country inn at the end of the day. weddings and family reunions.

Breakfast on the Connecticut was built in 1996 in the tradition of Shaker simplicity. The New England Inn’s 15 guest rooms are bright, airy and uncluttered, almost evenly split between the Main House and the attached 12 sided Shaker barn. Breakfast on the Connecticut sits on 23 acres in rural Lyme, just a dozen miles north of Hanover and Dartmouth College.

Attention to detail somewhat belies the Shaker simplicity. There is cherry trim throughout, granite counter-tops, a stunning cherry spiral staircase leading to our two suites, reproduction Shaker furniture blended with antiques, a parlor grand and Pompanoosuc Mills furniture in the breakfast room of our New England inn.

Two common rooms provide ample room to sit and relax indoors, while our screened porch offers a comfortable shelter on a rainy day. On those clear days, however, you’ll enjoy one of our Adirondack chairs or benches overlooking the river where you can sit back and take in the wonderful views.

Breakfast on the Connecticut has all the relative comforts you would expect of an upscale New England Inn including private baths, A/C, radiant heat, WIFI and excellent cell service. So bring your cell phone and laptop but leave your cares and stress behind.

    Breakfast

Breakfast is where Breakfast on the Connecticut gets its name. From our spacious kitchen comes a full, hearty New England breakfast offering each morning from 8:00 am to 9:30 am. The day begins with the enticing aroma of fresh-brewed coffee made with pure water from our deep artisan well or a choice from our array of teas and cocoa.

Our sun-drenched dining room awaits with an array of fresh fruit, juice, cereals, yogurt and freshly baked scone, muffin or coffeecake.

Then a tough decision, cinnamon French toast or a vegetable omelet, buttermilk waffles or southwestern frittata, blueberry pancakes or asparagus puff with vegetable confetti. The New England breakfast choices are endless and all are made with the finest ingredients using as many locally grown items as possible.

Our gourmet New England breakfast is served from 8:00 am to 9:30 am but we will gladly accommodate an early breakfast upon request.
