    Discover the Tranquility...

For more than 25 years this impressive Holderness bed and breakfast, just minutes from The Inn on Golden Pond - Holderness, New HampshireSquam Lake, has been the choice of discerning travelers looking for a warm and inviting New Hampshire lodging experience. Located at the northern edge of New Hampshire's Lakes Region and in the foothills of the White Mountains, the Inn On Golden Pond was originally built as a beautiful, private colonial home. As an 8 room country inn it has been expanded and refurbished to provide the modern amenities that today's traveler expects and deserves. The Squam area including the neighboring towns of Plymouth, Meredith, Ashland, Sandwich and Center Harbor offers the quintessential New Hampshire experience.

At the Inn On Golden Pond the rustic appeal of New Hampshire and the convenience of the 21st century meet. Imagine being surrounded by 50 wooded acres, but only 3 1/2 miles from I-93. Imagine seeing a black bear during your breakfast and within minutes using your blackberry and our wireless internet service to share the experience with friends anywhere in the world. Imagine a day of hiking in the wilderness or kayaking in secluded coves followed by an evening enjoying the performance of a symphony orchestra or the exquisite food of a gourmet restaurant. Or imagine a day of endless business meetings and constant calls offset by a night where the only calls you'll hear are those of loons and the only thing endless is the number of stars sparkling in our country sky. Our New Hampshire Inn is known for its refreshingly friendly, yet professional, atmosphere. Innkeepers Bill & Bonnie Webb have been hosting guests from all over the world for over 25 years. They pride themselves on providing just the right blend of homestyle comfort and relaxation with a healthy respect for individual privacy.

There are eight large guestrooms, two of which are two-room suites, all with private baths. They have been furnished and decorated in a traditional country style with amenities appropriate for today's traveler. Your comfort and satisfaction are the highest priority.

On the first floor there isEnjoy A Delicious Breakfast Each Morning a large dining room where each morning a delicious homecooked breakfast is served. There are also two sitting rooms on this floor, the first with a fireplace and lots of comfortable sofas and chairs. In the cool weather curl up next to a crackling fire, read a book, play a game or enjoy conversation with other guests. In the other sitting room you will find a television for those who need to be connected to the outside world. There is free wifi available throughout the Inn, but there is also a guest computer with high speed internet access available on the first floor for those who don't travel with their own.

In the warmer weather guests enjoy our 70" long screened-in porch which stretches the length of the front of the Inn, enhancing any New Hampshire weekend getaway. Also available during the summer and fall is our game room, located in a separate building, which has a ping pong table and a dartboard.

    Breakfast

Morning is a time of distinction at the Inn On Golden Pond. Aromas of freshly brewed coffee drift to guestrooms, and each day you will be treated to a full breakfast featuring home-baked breads and muffins, homemade jam, and a variety of delicious house specialties.

Our authentic New Hampshire breakfast is most often served buffet style. There's a bottomless pot of coffee or tea, and no one watches, or minds, if you sneak an extra muffin. Sit and enjoy the beautiful view looking out to the backyard. We've seen deer, moose and even black bear while enjoying breakfast. We think of breakfast as a time to get to know our guests and so the morning hour is filled with conversation, stories and laughter. It's also a time to help get our guests off to a good start for the day. We're always available to answer questions about local attractions or to give directions to get our guests to their next destination.

Bonnie has published a cookbook filled with her collection of New Hampshire breakfast recipes. Not only can you taste her specialties, but also you can find out how they're made, and if you're interested you can purchase a cookbook to practice your cooking skills at home.

When the movie makers went looking for a place to be Golden Pond, they found everything they wanted right here. That’s how Yankee Magazine described central New Hampshire’s Squam Lake, setting for the classic film On Golden Pond and the location of our bed & breakfast country inn.

Golden Pond exists only in our hearts and imaginations. But Squam Lake, New Hampshire’s second largest lake and site for the filming of the movie, captures the essence of any vacationer’s dream – unspoiled beauty, clear fresh waters, magnificent mountain scenery, and ample opportunities for the active and not so active visitor. It is a combination unequalled in New Hampshire.

For the outdoorsman the Squam Lakes (there’s a Big Squam and a Little Squam) offer 65 miles of shoreline to explore, more than 30 islands to circumvent, and 10 miles of open waterway to sail, motor or paddle in. Watch and listen to the loons. Fish the cool crystal clear waters for bass, salmon and trout.

Off the lake you will find miles of hiking and mountain biking trails crisscrossing the Squam Range. Our NH Bed & Breakfast is an ideal headquarters for you to savor the Golden Pond experience.

In winter you can snowmobile across the frozen lake or don a pair of x-country skis and traverse the ice. Bob houses for ice fishing appear across the lake as sportsmen take advantage of all four seasons on Squam.

The Inn On Golden Pond is about as central as one can get. In fact, the geographic center of New Hampshire is 4 miles from our front door. Since Holderness is a small town it’s almost hard not to find us once you arrive in town, but here are more specific directions to get you to the front door of our Holderness inn.

If you’re using GPS our physical address is 1080 U.S. Route 3, Holderness, NH. We have found some systems have difficulty with this address so you may want to use 1 Sebec Rd. which is at the edge of our property or input the following coordinates which will take you to our front door:

    • N 43.726018
    • W 71.606311

If you still believe in maps and human thought then the following directions to our inn in New Hampshire will be helpful:

From the South or the North:
Follow Interstate 93 to exit 24. Turn right at the bottom of the ramp and follow Rte 3 for 3 1/2 miles. Our Holderness inn is on your left.

    From the East:
The most convenient route is Rte 25. We’re on Rte 25 so simply follow it until you arrive in Holderness. We’re on the western end of town so you’ll follow Rte. 25 for about 4 miles before you’ll see us on the right. We’re across from the Town Hall.

    From the West:
There are a variety of routes coming from the west. All eventually lead to Interstate 93 so we suggest you hop on I-93 and head north or south to exit 24. At the bottom of the ramp turn right and go 3 1/2 miles until you see us on the left.
