  • Insider's Info

Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Sheila Oranch and Bill Powers for sharing their secrets with BBOnline.com!
Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

Most travelers stay at our inn because we are pet friendly, child friendly and cater to any food allergies or preferences. Most of our recipes come with tips for substitutions of ingredients. To learn more about our breakfasts or to sign up for our food blog, please visit our website.

What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?

We are known for our delicious, sumptuous breakfasts with something for everyone. We do not have a set menu so we plan, shop and prepare according to what each guest has said they like. We also ask guests in advance about their robe and slipper sizes, pillow preferences, colors, smells, music and activities so we can make their stay as comfortable and fun as possible.

If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

We are not in a city! The #1 reason visitors come here is that the Newfound Lake region in central New Hampshire is truly Nature’s Playground. We are surrounded by beautiful woodlands, rivers, waterfalls, nature centers, beaches, state parks and outdoor activities. Hebron is a cute, historic village where time paused and life is leisurely, but over the river and through the woods are concerts, museums, galleries, shops and sporting events.

What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

The best compliment is when former guests purchase stays as gifts for loved ones for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries or stress-relief. Actions speak louder than words and when a visit to Coppertoppe is the nicest thing you can give someone you love we feel honored and fulfilled.

What’s the best kept secret about the area?

The best-kept secret about the area is that you really CAN get anything you want if you know how to look or ask. Behind those trees or around that ridge there may be a big-name show, karaoke, art classes, auto races, bike trails, spa services, year-round ice skating, or the biggest arcade in the world.

If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

A traveler staying at our inn for 4 nights should start by getting good nights of restful sleep, awake to delicious breakfasts, and pursue the activities or interests that make vacations fun. If outdoor activities are preferred, hiking, biking, boating, skiing, golfing, birding and outdoor adventures are all around. Tax-free shopping, concerts, plays, festivals, farm visits, science centers, museums, historic sites and cultural events are all around us all the time. We are happy to provide advance information to help with planning or to arrange in-house massages or yoga classes.

Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

On our property we have 15 acres of woodlands, gardens, lawns and ponds. You can walk down to the loveseat swing and watch the clouds roll over Newfound Lake. There is a beaver pond over the hill and a sweet little valley between. Paradise Point Audubon Center with canoe/kayak rentals is less than a half mile from our half-mile driveway, and that mile is walking distance for many people. Another mile down the road is the semi-private town beach (we have passes). Walking distance is a relative term, depending on how much you like to walk! You’d have to go another mile to get to the village store and post office. For commercial enterprises, you’d likely want to use a bike or car.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

There are so many great restaurants in the area that this is a hard question to answer. Pasquaney Restaurant at the Inn on Newfound Lake is certainly the most elegant and has the most amazing food (reserve your dessert when you order). A little way down the road the Bridgewater Inn & Tavern, Kathleen’s Cottage, The Mill Fudge Factory, and Homestead Restaurant all have excellent food and nice atmospheres…sometimes with entertainment! We also love the Six Burner Bistro, Lucky Dog, Thai Smile, Fugaky and Remington’s in Plymouth. Whatever style you like, there is a nice place nearby to get it.

Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?

We are happy to provide maps and event information for travelers who have specific interests.

Two local sources give insider information about the area: The Newfound Play List  and The Newfound Experience

The larger region is well represented by the Plymouth Regional Chamber of Commerce, as well as Pemigewasset Valley Chamber of Commerce

How many rooms does your inn have?

We have two rooms and two suites. The rooms are usually double occupancy but a folding bed or Pack-n-Play may be added. The suites are huge and can sleep 4-6 adults depending on relationships. Regular room rates assume 2 adults and children under 12 are free.

    Do you accept pets?

We happily accept any domestic pets and can also refer to nearby pet day care and trainers. We love all animals and welcome dogs of all breeds and sizes. Pets should have appropriate vaccinations and flea/tick treatments and be socialized to humans and other animals. We have accommodated hundreds of dogs, some cats, rabbits, a guinea pig and a parrot named Pepper. We can refer horse owners to a neighbor with an extra stall.
