    The Wayside Inn, front view

    This historic Wayside Inn, located in Bethlehem, New Hampshire, started as a four-room homestead, built by the nephew of Franklin Pierce, 14th president of the United States. Today, The Wayside Inn welcomes guests seeking a true New England experience in any season. The inn is perfect for Romantic Getaways, Family and Friend Gatherings or a Memorable Vacation. The original main inn is partnered with its modern annex, ideal for young families and pet-friendly, each room features a balcony and a lovely view. All accommodations are spacious and truly comfortable, and one room in the inn is wheelchair accessible.

    Guests enjoy seasonal outdoor pleasures, with a riverside sandy beach and the carefully tended flower garden. Nearby hiking trails change dramatically with the seasons, and winter offers snowshoeing and cross-country skiing right from our door. Golf enthusiasts, dedicated antique lovers, country-store shoppers, our guests know all their passions will be satisfied. We are so close to major ski areas, and skiers of all levels will find their thrills all through the winter and early spring seasons.

    Close location to hiking, golf, skiing, relaxing right here by the river, quiet location, great food and comfortable rooms, good rates, friendliness. What we love most about the inn is having guests enjoy the location and service.

    If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

    Small town, quiet atmosphere, yet short drive to outdoor activities.

    No secrets, just lot of trees and relaxation.

    If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

    In summer there are many attractions in the area a traveler can go to or just stay here have a dip in the river, sit by it and enjoy reading an relaxing, play golf up the street, go for a walk in the National Forest, visit our neighbors horses, visit a Christmas tree farm to see how trees are grown, go canoeing or kayaking in the many rivers and lakes, antique shopping, outlet shopping, etc.

    The forest and the river.

    What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

    Our favorite restaurant is right here, the Riverview Restaurant with old fashioned good cooking with the same chef we had for the past 30 years. Excellent meats and European specials, some vegetarian and gluten free dishes.

    We have 25 rooms in 2 different buildings.

    The Wayside Inn, set by the beautiful Ammonoosuc River, is a few minutes from the center of Bethlehem in New Hampshire's White Mountains. The historic inn is a favorite for family vacations, romantic getaways and group gatherings any time of the year.

    Lovely settings, old-time flavor,warm hospitality, beautiful quilts... these are the hallmarks of our 175-year-old country inn. The Inn also houses the Pierce Lounge as well as the Riverview Restaurant, where flavorful candlelit dinners and hearty country breakfasts are served.

    The Spectacular Outdoors

    Outside, guests enjoy a selection of on-site activities. In summertime the sandy beach by the river, the flower garden and the horseshoe pit are favorites. Hiking trails,golf courses, antique and gift stores and the White Mountains attractions are just a short drive away. In winter enjoy snowmobiling, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing from the inn or downhill skiing at Bretton Woods and Cannon Mountain. Discounted lift tickets are available to our guests.

    You are invited for dinner at our Riverview Restaurant featuring fresh food carefully and lovingly prepared by your host and award-winning chef, Victor Hofmann. His European training is reflected in the delicious specials from Switzerland. Before or after dinner make new friends or relax with your favorite beverage in the Pierce Room, our full service lounge.

    Restaurant Hours: Breakfast 7:30 - 9:30 am. Dinner 5:30 - 8 pm. Hours vary in winter.

  • How to Find Us

    The Wayside Inn is 6 1/2 miles East off Interstate 93 (exit 40). Take a right hand turn off exit 40 onto Route 302 East. You will pass through the town of Bethlehem and we are on your right-hand side. We're minutes from Mount Washington, Franconia State Park, Old Man of the Mountains, Santa's Village and other major White Mountain attractions, and ski areas at Bretton Woods and Cannon Mountain.
